Meet the Blogger – Siobhan

Chanelle’s Note: This is the last ‘Meet the Blogger’ post of 2015 – a huge thank you to everyone that has been involved! To read more interviews and see past bloggers featured, click here.

SiobhanHello! My name is Siobhan, creator of the blog ‘Beauty and the Look’. I am 19 years old and I live in The UK. After enjoying many other beauty blogs and watching YouTube channels I decided it was time to make my own little blog. My blog is filled with beauty products, reviews, the odd fashion post and little snippets from my daily life.

1. When did you begin blogging?

I began earlier on this year in August. Just before that I tried using Blogger but it just wasn’t for me, I found using WordPress much better.

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

While trying to think of blog names it just came to me!

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

As I mentioned I love reading other blogs and I decided it was something I wanted to try out myself.

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

I love being able to choose what I am going to write about, taking all the pictures and putting everything together in a post. It’s just so fun and I really enjoy it.

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I am not really sure, I created this blog just because I loved the way other people’s blogs looked and I thought it would be fun to do. I really love writing so this is kind of like my hobby.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

  • Write about the things that you love or things that you are interested in, not just what you think people want to read.
  • Connect with other bloggers! That is definitely one of my favourite things because it is nice being able to talk to people that have the same interests as you.
  • Set a schedule that suits you.

8. What keeps you blogging?

Just the simple fact that I love it! I love writing about my interests and planning out each post that I’m going to put together!

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

Talking Heads – This Must Be the Place

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Ariana Grande, Andrew Clutterbuck (Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead) and Matthew Baynton (Jamie/Ariel from You Me and the Apocalypse).

11. Favourite colour?

Pink… I am drawn to anything that is cute and pink. Although I don’t own much pink clothing…

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Mint clubs… it’s an addiction.

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…I had more mint clubs *sigh*

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

Thank you Chanelle for having me on your blog, it’s such a great idea to get to know other bloggers. I have enjoyed reading other ‘Meet the Blogger’ posts and I have found a selection of new blogs that I hadn’t seen before.

Thank you Siobhan. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Hannah Jayne

Hannah JayneHey everyone! My name is Hannah, and I am the author of Miss Hannah Jayne! I am 16 years old, and I will be studying Year 12 this upcoming year. I have a passion for makeup and fashion – but as for my blog, I focus on organization, study techniques, health, well being/happiness and pretty much anything else that brings me joy! So go on over and check it out!

1. When did you begin blogging?

I began blogging in February 2014. Originally my blog was focused on makeup and fashion. However, a couple of weeks ago, I completely redesigned my blog!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

Well… it took a while. I remember sitting at my laptop for a couple of days trying to think of the perfect name. But I guess I just came to the conclusion that my name best represents who I am and what I am about.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

I have always had this passion for writing! So for me to have the opportunity to share my thoughts with the world is phenomenal!

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

I guess being able to be who I am and what I want, and then at the same time being able to help people. There is a lot of satisfaction when a reader responds saying you have helped them!

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

Like I mentioned above, I want to help others. You know? Give them what I would have wanted. And just create posts that people will enjoy reading and make them smile!

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

1) Write what you want to write! Don’t write whatever you think will give you the most views. Write from your heart. If you enjoy what you are writing, your readers will enjoy reading it.
2) Have fun! There are no limits when it comes to blogging! Be you! Have a laugh! Don’t stress!

8. What keeps you blogging?

I think just my passion for writing and my passion for what I am writing about! That’s what keeps me blogging on schedule. But my readers are definitely motivating also, so thank you!!

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

‘Beware the Dog’ by The Griswolds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Kylie Jenner, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Delta Goodrem (she is actually so sweet!!)

11. Favourite colour?

That lime green/yellow colour that’s in fashion!! Haha. But black as well – sophistication 😉

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

CHOCOLATE every day, any day!

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…the world was a much nicer place to live in.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

You can also find me on Pinterest!!

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

Thank you. Thank you so much to all of my lovely readers who always come back wanting to read more. You guys are the best! :’) And thank you Chanelle, for the opportunity to be a part of your ‘Meet the Blogger’ segment. I really appreciate your generosity!

Thank you Hannah Jayne. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Jessica-Anne

Jessica-AnneHey everyone, I’m Jessica-Anne, from The Lawyer Look! 🙂 I’m 20 years old and a Law student from England who also has a huge passion for all things beauty related, which is why I have my little blog! Although now I’m starting to venture into fashion and lifestyle blog posts as well. I hope you all enjoy reading my answers 🙂

1. When did you begin blogging?

I started my blog back in June this year, but I wasn’t really sure where I wanted to go with it. So I left it for about a month and started posting again around August and since then I haven’t stopped!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

If any of you read my blog you may have noticed around 2 months or so ago I changed the name of my blog because I really wasn’t happy with it, and also it didn’t fit with the route I was going down. I came up with my new name because I’m a law student and hopeful solicitor hence ‘The Lawyer’ and my blog is all about beauty hence the ‘Look’. I thought this suited my blog perfectly as it gave me the option to talk about things to do with being a law student as well as mainly being a beauty blog!

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

I’d always wanted to start a blog, but for months I would just put it off. I’d spent so long reading beauty bloggers work and watching people such as Zoella and Tanya Burr talking about makeup, I wanted to talk about my own views! For me I struggled in changing up my makeup routine for years so creating a blog let me talk about so many different products I’d tried and therefore I could hopefully help somebody else in finding a new perfect addition to their beauty collection!

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

My favourite thing is by far connecting with other bloggers. Everyone in the blogging community is so lovely to each other that it really helps to motivate others! Also, it gives me the chance to find people with the same passions and interests as me!

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I’d like to start branching out and writing more lifestyle related posts! I don’t have many on my blog and really enjoy reading others under this category so that’s definitely one of my goals!

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

Try and find your little niche within the blogging community. Don’t feel like you have to do what bloggers with thousands of followers do because you should blog about what YOU are passionate about! Your readers will be able to tell if what you are writing about is of interest to you because it comes across in your writing. Also, if you ever just need a week’s break or even longer from blogging, don’t feel bad because everyone gets to that point where they just want a week of doing nothing! My final tip is to interact with other bloggers, they will help you build your blog and you will find that you have so much in common with them! 🙂

8. What keeps you blogging?

What keeps me blogging is that I enjoy taking some time out of the day to talk about something I love. It gives me a little area on the internet to express whatever I want, and it’s actually really relaxing to sit and write a blog post!

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

This is so bad but I honestly can’t remember the last time I downloaded a song, I go through periods where I’m not in the mood to listen to music, whoops!

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Could I have 4 or even 5? Because I’d definitely invite all of the Pretty Little Liars!

11. Favourite colour?

PINK!

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is Texas Barbecue Pringles. It’s so bad but I can get through a whole tube of them in about 10 minutes if I want too!

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…I could have 100 puppies! Waiting until I can have my own house and not live in student accommodation where I’m not allowed pets is taking way too long!

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

I’d just like to say thank you to all my lovely readers who have supported me in growing my blog! Also, to Chanelle for letting me get involved in her ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, I had so much fun answering all these questions!

Thank you Jessica-Anne. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Morgan

MorganHello, lovelies!

I’m Morgan @ “The Secret Diary of a Computer Science Student”,  a British lifestyle and creative blogger with a love for all things books, beauty and geek. On top of that, I’m a super keen photographer, a software developer, and a cat lady. Nice to meet you!

1. When did you begin blogging?

I started my blog in early August this year but I feel like I’ve been blogging for years! My blog is my safe place where I can share the huge variety of thoughts and ideas my brain produces – it’s chaos up in my mind, I have too many hobbies! I’ve learnt so much and met so many lovely bloggers already though. I can’t wait to see how my blog progresses throughout 2016, because I have so many plans for its’ future 🙂

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

It took me absolutely ages, and I’m still not completely happy with it. I wanted it to be memorable, relevant and something that summed me up quite simply. I think I managed that! Even though studying English and the arts was always my priority throughout school and college, computer science was the right path for me in the end.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

Too much to say, nowhere to say it! I have so much to share with everyone, so many ideas on a huge variety of topics, that I realised creating a blog had to be the answer 🙂 I love finding inspiration from lovely blogs too – pretty posts, geeky posts, thought-provoking posts, ideas, books, advice… the list is endless. As well as writing, I have a big passion for photography and I think my combination of both written and photography posts keeps my blog fresh and stops it becoming repetitive!

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

There are so many things I love! The routine (because I’m really organised), the opportunity to share my thoughts and photos, the lovely people I get to talk to daily, the diverse blogs I get to read… the list could go on and on, I love it.

5. What are your must read blogs?

I follow so many wonderful blogs that I couldn’t narrow it down. You should check out all my regular readers and “likers” – my blog family!

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I would love to finally kick-start my blog diary, to help me organise and schedule. I’m perfectly happy with my content, but there’s nothing nicer than a bit of organisation 🙂

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

Write what you want to write, share what you want to share. It’s your blog, and you will earn more respect using your own words than by copying the words of others.

Don’t forget to engage with your readers. Take time to comment back to everyone who comments – they took their time, you should too!

Good quality photographs make such a difference to the quality of your blog! Think about investing in a new camera, and try to take all of your blog photographs in natural light.

8. What keeps you blogging?

It’s become a big part of my life! It’s too much fun to give it up 🙂

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

I haven’t downloaded or bought music in years! I listen to all my favourites from iTunes – they haven’t changed in about a decade. If I fancy something new or different, Spotify to the rescue!

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Such a hard question! I’d love to meet so many, but I’m going to go with: Bill Gates, Ada Lovelace and Vincent Van Gogh. 🙂

11. Favourite colour?

Light green! Like the colour of my blog.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

I have many pleasures but I’m (embarrassingly) not guilty about any of them. I’m a proud person, and I’ve finally grown out of worrying what other people think.

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…The world wasn’t so full of evil.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

I’d like to thank Chanelle for featuring me on her blog, and a big fat sorry for taking so long to get around to doing so! I’ve enjoyed answering the questions, and I hope you enjoyed reading them!

Thank you Morgan. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Britney

BritneyJHello, my name is Britney Jackson. I’m a 24 year old from Kansas City. I’m a very simple but extraordinary girl who found her love for blogging about many different subjects. I blog about hair, fashion, life experiences, topics, product reviews, travel and sometimes my everyday life.

When I’m not blogging I’m a full time daycare specialist. I pretty much watch infants and toddlers Monday – Friday. I love this job because I get to blog whenever I want because I work from home. I have a very simple life and I love it.

Check out Britney’s blog A Daily Lifestyle!

1. When did you begin blogging?

I started blogging on October 10 this year and I have to admit it’s something that I enjoy dearly.

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

Well because I blog about many different things, I needed a name that would encompass all my subjects. So I decided that Daily Lifestyle was the prefect name because it’s centered around my daily life style.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

Since I stay at home all the time, I felt like I needed something more to do. I’m in love with sharing ideas, food, doing product reviews and I also enjoy writing. I actually started many failed blogs over the past 2 months and finally found a niche that works for me. I tried YouTube and realised that it doesn’t work well with me. I’m in love with writing my ideas more than speaking about my ideas.

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

It would have to be sharing my ideas with people and actually getting noticed for it. I never knew that people would be intrigued by my post ideas. It’s amazing that I have almost 100 people following my blog right now. It’s something that makes me happier than just being a blogger. It’s the fact that I get to connect with people who enjoy reading and doing the same things as me.

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I want to achieve power and success. With my blog I feel like I have the power to write about anything I want. I want to be successful because blogging is something I want to do as a career someday – simply because it’s everything that comes from me. It’s basically my ideas that are inside my head and finally have the chance to get out.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

“Just because you quit, doesn’t mean you can’t do it.” I have to say that I failed at blogging plenty of times, but I never stopped trying. Never give up on your passion and dreams. I enjoy blogging more than anything. If you love something stick with it. It’s all worth it in the end.

8. What keeps you blogging?

The future keeps me blogging, because I want to have something that will be left behind when I’m long gone.

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

I do mostly streaming. I haven’t really downloaded any songs lately.

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Ellen DeGeneres because she’s a nice, kind person, Kevin Hart because he’s super funny and Ed Sheeran because he’s such an amazing singer

11. Favourite colour?

Yellow.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Cookies, cake and ice cream.

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…to become a famous and successful full-time blogger.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

Yes, I’m awesome!

Thank you Britney. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Bronagh

BronaghHello! I’m Bronagh and I’m the creator of Bronagh’s Beauty and Books! Like most people, it took me several attempts to make a blog I’m proud of, and I have to say I’m rather in love with my little piece of the internet! I’m 20 years old (which feels weird to say as I swear I just turned 18…) and I’m OK at “adulting” sometimes. By day, I work in an office doing admin work, but once I come home, I pour my heart and soul into blogging. I’d ideally like to do this full time someday, but for now it’s my favourite hobby! I live in The UK, in Northern Ireland. I live in a small sea-side town, and I love it! I get stunning sea views and during the “off” season, peace and quiet!

I’ve been with my partner Derek, for almost two years now, and he’s a huge part of my life. Literally he always seems to be in my tweets, Instagram photos and even the odd blog post!

1. When did you begin blogging?

I began blogging in April of this year! I’m only a baby in the blogging world, but I’m learning so much each day!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

Honestly, I wasn’t fully decided for a good while. Originally I was going to go for Bronagh’s Beauty Blog, but I knew I’d not be happy with it in the long run! I started playing around with my name and came up with Bronagh’s Beauty and Books.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

Zoella did! I hate to admit it, but reading her book, Girl Online, is what made me want to start!

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

Being part of the community! The blogging community is amazing and I love knowing I’m a part of it!

5. What are your must read blogs?

I have three that I always read:

They’re amazing and I love them!

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I want to be able to do this full time and start a career from it. Something either in the beauty industry or maybe in Social Media.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

Think about your blog name! It sticks with you! Also find a niche (or a couple like me!) and stick with it/them. Once you have your niche, everything will fall into place!

8. What keeps you blogging?

My love of what I’m writing. I feel like if I didn’t love what I was talking about, I would have given up a while ago. Also the people who talk to me. I love knowing when I post, someone is reading it and talking to me! It makes me feel like I’m part of the popular group!

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

Ed Sheeran – Take It Back. I can successfully do the singing and the rapping in it.

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Can I please have four? So I can have all of All Time Low? I can’t only choose three!

11. Favourite colour?

Pastel yellow, the Hufflepuff yellow!

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Everything chocolate! And cheesy reality/talent shows, the X Factor takes over my life every year!

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

This is insanely hard! I wish I could work from home. I was thinking of lots of things there, but that’s the main wish I have right now.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

I find Twitter is my largest traffic source, so I really advise using it to your advantage!

Thank you Bronagh. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Zoe

ZoeHi everyone! I’m Zoe, the author of Coffee With Zoe. I’m a current literature student based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I’ve always had a penchant for all things beauty related and decided to combine my love for writing and literature with my passion for make-up. Et voilà – my little blog baby was born. Now I have a place online to share precious memories, aspirations, photography, all whilst reviewing everything minus the kitchen sink! Today I will be answering some questions for Chanelle’s amazing feature ‘Meet the Blogger’. I hope you enjoy!

1. When did you begin blogging?

I created ‘Coffee With Zoe’ during the summer this year, a brief relaxing period between finishing my undergraduate degree and before signing my life away to undertake a Master’s degree. I was surprised at how addictive it can be and I think I spent a huge chunk of my summer taking photos, editing and thinking up of new ideas for posts! I called it the blogging bug… I don’t think non-blogger people quite understand!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

I wanted it to be centred on the concept of a conversation between two friends over a coffee or lunch date. ‘Ladies who lunch’ if you will! I thought this would be a unique idea for making my blog seem more approachable and personal to each and every reader. Therefore, ‘Coffee With Zoe’ seemed apt, and I hope my readers have liked this personal concept. Plus it’s no secret that I can’t function without caffeine.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

I’ve been a big fan of certain YouTubers (Zoella, Tanya Burr, Sammi Maria, Fleur De Force etc.) for many years, and have always admired their content and eye for beauty and fashion. As a make-up junkie myself I read reviews about a product before buying, especially if it is more high-end, therefore I have always appreciated beauty blogs. It seemed like a natural progression to start one myself – I find it hard to keep a good beauty discovery to myself, and I’m sure my friends and family are sick to death of hearing about them! However, while a major focus of my blog is on my passion for make-up, I also wanted to keep it well-rounded and include more personal elements, such as posts regarding my favourite places to visit or thoughts about life in general. This is why I consider my blog as a kind of online diary or inspiration board these days!

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

Hands down it’s interacting with other bloggers who similarly understand the blogging bug! It’s so lovely to watch other writers grow and establish themselves, and it’s also nice when a reader takes time out of their day to read and give feedback on my own posts.

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I don’t really have an objective in mind as blogging has become my creative outlet and hobby, and not something I created in order to achieve a set goal. I will say however that it keeps me in the habit of writing, which is useful for when I go to approach a new essay at university – the site of a blank word document never seems as daunting. Therefore I consider blogging as a kind of light-hearted remedy for writer’s block!

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

  • Enjoy yourself! Blog about what you want, when you want. Putting stress on yourself to create ‘the perfect blog’ will not only give you serious creative-constipation, but make your blog lack that certain personal aspect that readers really love and react to.
  • Interact! Beautiful content and passion for your blogging subject will remain largely undiscovered if you don’t interact with others within the blogosphere. By reading and exchanging feedback you will also discover new tips and ideas that you didn’t know before, therefore interaction is key for allowing your blogging style to flourish.
  • Take your time with photography! An image says more than a thousand words, yes, but it is the immediacy of a striking picture that draws readers into clicking upon your post and ultimately reading your fabulous content. So play around with lighting and props, the picture can sometimes take the same amount of time to capture as the actual post takes to write! Which is great, you could unleash a love of photography that you never knew you harboured.
  • Spellcheck, spellcheck, spellcheck. Maybe it’s the literature student in me, but a post with a lot of errors screams sloppy to me, and could be easily remedied through reading the content once again before uploading! But again, I am a bit of a stickler for grammar and spelling.

8. What keeps you blogging?

The beauty world keeps releasing new products, trends in make-up and style keep changing and there will always be new places to visit and experience. As far as I can see, there will always be content that I will be just itching to write! I love how my fellow bloggers have formed a non-competitive, all-inclusive online community and I hope to remain a part of it for years to come.

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

‘This Is Halloween’ from the Tim Burton film A Nightmare Before Christmas. That film is amazing and a recent out-pouring of Halloween make-up tutorials have got me really excited for Halloween!

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

The huge boring nerd in me would love the opportunity to discuss modern literary theory with past icons such as Virginia Woolf and Lord Byron. The fangirl in me wants Benedict Cumberbatch!

11. Favourite colour?

Navy-blue. Reminiscent of elusive Parisian style or being wrapped up in navy jumpers on a crisp, winter morning.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Salty chips dipped into McFlurry ice-cream. How does that work so well?!

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…I didn’t have student debt keeping me back from traveling the world. Sigh.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

I would like to thank Chanelle for this opportunity to write for her blog! These questions were a pleasure to answer and I look forward to reading what others have said too! Thank you x

Thank you Zoe. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Anne

AnneHello everyone! I am Anne from Doves & Roses, a 28 year old Dutch girl who hoards organic skincare, cleansers, Essie nail polish, foundation, green tea, and books (thankfully the invention of E-readers has made this a little easier). You can usually find me writing away about all things beauty on Doves & Roses in English and Dutch, but today the lovely Chanelle has given me the opportunity to introduce myself to you.

1. When did you begin blogging?

I started my blog a little over a year ago, after months of thinking about it. In hindsight, I wish I would have started sooner because it is so much fun. So if anyone out there has been considering it: just go for it!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

That was quite a difficult decision and I have to admit I went through quite a list of options before I ended up with Doves & Roses. Doves is actually a reference to my last name which includes the Dutch word for dove and roses are just my favorite flowers (besides Dahlias and Peonies, but for brevity’s sake I had to pick one).

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

I absolutely love reading beauty blogs, getting inspired by new products and great ideas for makeup looks and nail art. It just made me want to be part of the beauty blogging community and I haven’t regretted it.

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

The amazing blogging community: I have met so many lovely people through my blog and the support has been amazing. Having a beauty blog is also a great excuse for the occasional splurge on beauty products I simply ‘must review’.

5. What are your must read blogs?

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

My blog is a really great hobby that distracts me from work, allows me to experiment with photography, makes me feel creative, and helps me hone my writing skills. Let’s save the aims and achievements for work, I just want to enjoy blogging.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

Stop hesitating and simply start a blog. It isn’t as difficult as you think and the only way to learn is by just starting to blog. Remember that engagement is everything: the best part about blogging is commenting on other blogs and building relationships with your fellow bloggers and readers.

8. What keeps you blogging?

The amazing people who comment on my blog posts and the sense of personal achievement I get from being creative and following through with my blog plans.

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

The Wilder Mind album by Mumford & Sons.

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Hmmm do they have to be alive and real? I would love to meet Sherlock Holmes and Coco Chanel, both would make for a very entertaining dinner party. And maybe George R.R. Martin to make him divulge the GOT storyline under threat of torture.

11. Favourite colour?

I never quite understand how people pick just one…but since it is autumn I’ll go for berry.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Lounging on my couch with a great book, cup of tea, and a cookie (or a tub of icecream).

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…Girls and women would have equal opportunities no matter where they are born on earth.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

I just want to thank Chanelle for inviting me to be part of this great series! Such a lovely way to meet new blogging friends and find great blogs to follow.

Thank you Anne. If anyone else would like to be featured on Chanelle Hayley in the ‘Meet the Blogger’ section, please contact chanelleblogs@gmail.com.

Meet the Blogger – Lauren

LaurenHi, I am Lauren, the author behind Styled By Lauren. I am a 19 year old student from The UK who has an ever growing obsession with beauty. I would like to say that blogging is my hobby. I just love to rave about new beauty products in my stash. I also like to go shopping… for more beauty products.

1. When did you begin blogging?

I started my blog back in January 2010. Although I only really started to get more serious about my blog in the last year and I started to blog more regularly.

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

My blog was originally named 4everfashion, cringe I know! It was that as I loved fashion obviously and then I grew tired of it and changed it to ‘Styled’ as it sounded more professional. To give it a more personal touch I added ‘By Lauren’.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

When I first began blogging I really wanted a career in fashion and I felt like having a blog was like my own fashion magazine. I loved reading style editorials in magazines and essentially I wanted to write my own.

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

There are so many! Obviously it’s so nice to communicate with people all the time especially when they have the same interests. I love being able to just rave about how good a lipstick is to someone and they actually get it without thinking I am a freak! I also just love writing content for my blog and coming up with new ideas.

5. What are your must read blogs?

Reading blogs is one of my favourite things to do! I have so many faves. Although my top ones are From Roses, Gh0stparties and Lily Pebbles.

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I just want to continue to grow and develop my blog. I have definitely came a long way since I started blogging and I want to continue growing.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

It is more work than you would think but it’s definitely worth it. Blogging is a learning experience and has taught me so much just over the last year. Just have fun, enjoy it and interact with people.

8. What keeps you blogging?

I love blogging, I really don’t know what I would be doing without my blog. I just love being able to share my thoughts on beauty products and connecting with other bloggers.

Quick fire questions:

9. What was the last song you downloaded or bought?

I’ve not really downloaded anything recently since I’ve been using Spotify. Although the last thing was probably Hozier.

10. If you could invite any three celebrity guests or famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Morgan Freeman, Harry Styles and Lauren Conrad.

11. Favourite colour?

White.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Online shopping. Lots of it.

13. Finish this sentence. I wish…

…for three more wishes.

14. Where else can readers find you online?

15. Lastly, is there anything extra you’d like to mention you haven’t already?

Just a big thank you to Chanelle for featuring me in her Meet the Blogger series! Thank you 🙂
