One of the suggestions in my 10 Ways To Improve a Bad Day post was to ‘write down your highlight of the day.‘ I have to confess while writing down my highlight of the day is something I adopted in May, I was inspired to do so by Adele of The Girl In Glasses. Adele writes down one thing every day that makes her happy and at the end of each month, she shares her list on her blog. I’d commented in the past telling her I wanted to do the same and I finally got around to starting this month. Originally I didn’t know if I would keep the lists to myself or not, but I have decided to share them.
May 1: Felt satisfied after cleaning my bedroom.
May 2: Got complimented on my lipstick. (I was wearing After Dark by Urban Decay).
May 3: Used my Real Techniques eye brushes for the first time.
May 4: One year anniversary since I started my job!
May 5: Received my Dannii For Target order.
May 6: Three weeks to go until my time off from work.
May 7: Weather was nice and I spent the afternoon shopping in town with mum.
May 8: Any day I get to wear my Dannii For Target trackpants is a good one!
May 9: Finalised the prize for a blog giveaway (coming soon!)
May 10: Good night on TV: The Chase and reality TV.
May 11: Achieved everything I wanted to at work today.
May 12: Love a bit of after shower pampering!
May 13: Bought home a piece of brownie from work packaged in the cutest little container.
May 14: Enjoyed watching Take Me Out – one of my Saturday rituals.
May 15: Had Chinese for dinner; honey chicken rice. It was delicious!
May 16: My second to last Monday at work before my week off.
May 17: Tried the strawberries and cream body butter I purchased a few weeks ago. Not bad for $3 and it smells yummy!
May 18: The weather fined up just in time for me to go out at lunch time. I was all prepared with my umbrella and parka but didn’t need them
May 19: First time doing yoga in a couple of weeks.
May 20: Got complimented on my lip combo: MAC’s Without Your Love topped with Rimmel’s Oh My Gloss in Glossaholic.
May 21: Decided how I want my hair to be done next week.
May 22: Tried on my new Tanya Burr lipglosses, I’m in love!
May 23: Booked my haircut for Saturday.
May 24: Nails and jewellery were on point today
May 25: Probably the earliest I’ve ever finished work tonight.
May 26: The sun was out for most of the day. Sun seems to make everyone happier.
May 27: Wore my pink lips and gold eye combo, one of my favourite makeup looks of late. (Let me know if you’d like to see a makeup menu for this look).
May 28: Had the loveliest afternoon; got my hair done, went to the library for the first time in ages and purchased some goodies from The Body Shop.
May 29: Adam Rickitt tweeted me and Dannii Minogue liked my photo on Instagram.
May 30: Went to the doctor and got to the bottom (hopefully) of why my nose has been giving me so much trouble.
May 31: Wore my Skechers today, so comfy!
I hope you enjoyed this post and will continue to look forward to reading my happiness highlights at the end of each month! Let me know your happiness highlights for May.

I love this post so much. I should do this as it’s nice to think of the small things each day that are positive x

Thank you! I think it also helps me remember what has happened throughout the month. We get so busy and it’s nice to read back and think, “that’s right, this happened” or “I got to see such and such today.” Life zooms by so quickly, it’s nice to have the memories.

Aw thanks so much for the mention, I’m really pleased that you got around to doing it. It’s a simple activity, but reflective and uplifting. I haven’t typed up my May Happiness Highlights yet, but I’ll link back to your post and hopefully we can encourage more people to take part. Great list, btw! 🙂

Thank you! I agree, it is always nice to look and the good things and try and be more positive. Even if something bad happened on a certain day, that’s not what I’ll remember. I’ll remember the good thing I wrote down instead x

This is such a sweet idea. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad would ask us all at the dinner table to name the highlight of our days 🙂 so nice to look for the positives
