Week In Review: November 17 – November 23, 2014

I post an update here every Sunday giving an overview of my week. Accompanying photos from my Instagram are also included. Here’s the latest:

They’ve been out for a couple of weeks now, but on Tuesday during the weekly food shop we picked up our first strawberries of the season. Strawberries are my favourite summer fruit and have been since I was a child.

Thursday's run selfieIt’s been a little while since my last run but seeing as Thursday was a rest day from my 30 day sit up and squat challenges I made a promise to myself that I would go for one. I posted this black and white selfie just before the run – excuse the lack of makeup.

Last month I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of Cheryl’s Only Human and I received an email on Friday night letting me know it had been dispatched. It was meant to be dispatched on Monday but had to be backordered.

Sunday shoppingJust like last Sunday I woke up early yet again this morning. I had a treat of McDonald’s for breakfast then mum and I decided to go shopping for the day. We hopped in the car and drove for about an hour until we reached Bayfair (with The Saturdays and Ellie Goulding providing car music). When it comes to shopping I am definitely the bargain hunter and today all the things I purchased were on sale! I got some lovely tops as well as a t-shirt and a pair of pyjama shorts. It was nice to get out of the house and have a little adventure as usually I find weekends quite boring.

Be sure to let me know if you had any little adventures this week!

Week In Review: September 29 – October 5, 2014

Dannii's parcelDannii's parcel

I completed a project I have been working on for Dannii Minogue’s birthday since March. I packaged everything up and made a trip to the post office on Tuesday. I was sad to part with the parcel but I thoroughly enjoyed working on the project – I saw it as my baby over the past six months. You may remember me talking about the letter I wrote Dannii a couple of weeks ago, which was one of the things included in the package. I plan to share more details about the project closer to Dannii’s birthday (October 20).

The parcel didn’t take long to get to Australia at all, three days at most. Dannii tweeted on Friday evening letting me know it had arrived.

I had a job interview for an Administration position on Wednesday. The interview was quite short, only lasting 10 minutes. The following day I got an email saying I didn’t get the job.

I also noticed this week I’ve lost another 2kgs since I last weighed myself. That makes approximately 5kgs I’ve lost in the last month or so 🙂

Thursday's eyeliner Happy birthday Tango

Despite wearing makeup for a good few years now I’ve never tried eyeliner before and decided to give it a go this week. I have a black ‘Thin Lizzy Liquid Eyeliner’ which looks similar to a felt tip pen. Considering I’m left-handed and wear glasses I think I did okay for a first go. I’m sure I’ll get better with time, practice makes perfect!

Friday saw Tango celebrate her 5th birthday and I’m certain she had an excellent day! She was spoilt with cuddles, attention and even had a special lunch. There’s a running joke in our house that because she’s so clever (and old enough) she’ll be sent off to school.

Over the past few days my muscles have been aching from a 3km run/walk a friend and I did on Thursday. It was my first run in a while and it was nice to get out in the fresh air. This is a lot further than I normally run so I felt like I had achieved something afterwards, despite returning home with a tomato red face which stayed red for ages.

As always, I’d love to hear about your week!

Running Up That Hill

Today I went for my first run in forever!

I think the last time I ran properly was in P.E. in high school!

A friend of mine has been getting into running lately and has an app on her phone she uses to help. She follows an eight week program and runs/walks for the amount of the time the app requires. She’s been going running early in the morning in the forest and has inspired me to also give running a go.

I’ve devised a little route around my cul-de-sac of a few kilometres or so. I went out at 3:40 p.m. this afternoon and used today’s run as a trial to see how long I could run for before I needed a rest. I’m an asthmatic but luckily I don’t get attacks very often. I know not to push myself too hard.

I ended up walking for most of today as realistically I didn’t expect to be able to run the whole distance anyway. In future I plan to run earlier in the day so I get more sunshine and less of an icy afternoon breeze. I’m aiming to go for a run at least three times a week. Hopefully the more I run the fitter I will get.

To all you fellow runners out there –‘Keep calm and run on.’
