Hello and happy Monday! I’m very excited to be able to announce the winner of my first ever blog giveaway! I selected the winner over the weekend and I also gathered everything together to wrap up ready to send out. Thank you to everyone who entered and helped me celebrate two years of blogging! Each entry was recorded in an Excel spreadsheet which you can view HERE. The entries were recorded in the order people entered and assigned a number. I then used a random number generator (Random.org) to select a winner.
And the winner is…
Bronagh from Bronagh’s Beauty and Books!
Congratulations Bronagh! I will be in touch with you very shortly so I can get your prize sent out to you 🙂
The Q&A:
One of the rules to enter the giveaway was to ask me a question I could answer in a Q&A post. Today I will be answering all of the questions for you!
Dannii asked: What one era do you love the makeup from the most? (i.e. 50’s red lip and simple eyes).
I love the 80s for the big, bright colours! I am a huge fan of a bright lip and my favourite shade to wear is fuchsia which was pretty fashionable in the 80s. (I think!)
Bronagh asked: What’s your favourite casual/comfy look?
Casual – I love jeans and leggings as you can dress them up or down and they’re so versatile.
Comfy – I am a fan of pyjamas. I don’t spend all day in them but I always used to put them on as soon as I came home from work.
Alice asked: Is there one makeup product you’ve used that surprised you because it was much better than you expected it to be?
I’m going to go with the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder in Transparent. I had never tried or thought that I needed a setting powder before but over the past couple of months I have been really impressed with it. There’s no excess oil on my face (which may also be down to my change in concealer) and this powder has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine. I also wear Rimmel’s Match Perfection foundation so the two products go well together.
Gwawr asked: What made you want to start blogging?
Originally I wanted to start blogging after becoming obsessed with Filofax users and their blogs all about organisation. After about six months in at the start of 2015 I realised my posts were starting to become more beauty orientated so I decided to take the blog down that avenue.
Sangeetha asked: What is your ever lusting makeup brand that you always wanted to try? And, why?
I always wanted to try MAC for their lipsticks because they were always talked about in such high regard. Now that I have tried MAC, I’d love to try Chanel purely because it’s my namesake! It’s only fitting Chanelle tries something from Chanel right?!?!
Rachael asked: Where’s your favourite place to eat out, and is there a dish you can’t resist when visiting?
Eating out makes me nervous because I am a fussy eater so I don’t do it too often and I don’t have a favourite place I visit regularly. A dish I can’t resist, fish and chips always gets my vote, fries and crispy batter – yum!
Dal asked: Where do you see your blog in the next year?
Next year my blog will be three years old which is crazy to think about! I’d like to host another giveaway or two and I’d like to improve my photography skills. I’ve been thinking about investing in a proper SLR camera so if you have any camera recommendations, please leave them in the comments 🙂
Kaily asked: Where do you want to be in 5 years?
In an ideal world living in England, doing something in the music industry and having someone special to share my life with. All I really want though is to be happy.
Coline asked: What are your top 5 summer perfumes?
I don’t know if I’ve ever owned more than five perfumes, let alone five summer scents. I will list fragrances I have been wearing a lot lately and fragrances I have loved for a long time:
- Juicy Couture – Viva la Juicy
- Britney Spears – Radiance
- Revlon – Fire and Ice
- Britney Spears – Curious: In Control
- The Body Shop Black Musk EDT
Marie asked: Have you experienced times where you don’t feel like blogging? How did you cope with it?
A little bit. Some days I don’t feel motivated but I don’t like to fall behind with posts so I crack on and it always feels good when a post is published and readers are enjoying it. There’s no shame in taking a blogging break for a few days or a couple or weeks (however long you need). Very rarely do I not enjoy or feel like blogging, I’m always thinking of post ideas or how I can make improvements and be creative.
Cindy asked: How can I prevent split ends from flat ironing?
This is not something I have personal experience with but I’d say as long as you trim your hair regularly to keep split ends at bay and use shampoo and conditioner that prevents breakages that would be a good start.
Karen asked: If you could be any celebrity in the world for just one day who would it be and why?
I have answered this before and my answer is still the same: Kylie Minogue. She seems to have such a glamourous lifestyle and I’d love to perform a concert of her hits for the night!
Paulina asked: Do you have any beauty or makeup products that you have loved for years?
I have used Simple moisturiser for years and I am very reluctant to change that. It has never caused my skin any problems and compared to a lot of moisturisers you get a lot of product for your money.
Nicola asked: Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
I take inspiration from many different people and different looks but ultimately, I’d say my mum. I love listening to her talk about her makeup and I always trust her opinion on something. Her signature style, while different from my own, is bright eyeshadows and blue mascara and I always think she looks so nice. Anyone that can do their complete face in four minutes is an inspiration!
Molly asked: Whose blogs do you read the most (either famous bloggers or lesser known bloggers?)
No word of a lie, I scroll through every post in my reader almost on a daily basis. I may not comment on everyone’s (sorry) but I do see them. As for famous bloggers, I always look forward to posts from Lily Pebbles and Vivianna Does Makeup.
Stashy asked: Can you name your favourite makeup look from a music video? and Which musician do you think should come out with a makeup line or do a collab (if a collab, with what brand? i.e. MAC, Becca etc.?)
- Kylie’s makeup from her Love At First Sight video. Her whole look is so edgy with the bright orange bangle, one K earring in her right ear and that green eyeshadow.
- I think a makeup line from Britney Spears would be quite interesting, she has a lot of memorable hits and looks and is a pop icon. I’m going to cop out and say I’d like to see a Britney/MAC collaboration purely because I know that MAC is sold in a lot of places which means more people could get their hands on the range. The shades could be named after her songs similar to Ellie Goulding’s MAC collaboration.
Rachel asked: What is your favourite makeup and clothing brand at the moment?
My favourite makeup brand has to be Rimmel purely because I own a lot of their products and they never leave me disappointed! Clothing-wise I’d say Cotton On, I have bought a number of clothing pieces from them lately and they are stylish and affordable at the same time.
Yazzi asked: What do you do when you’re stressed and need some “me time”
Take a deep breath and create a to do list in my head so I can evaluate what I need to achieve, breaking things down helps. Listening to music or reading a book helps to relax and distract me too.
Adele asked: In the world of celebrity, whose beauty/fashion look inspires you and/or do you particularly like – and why?
Victoria Beckham – she always looks well put together and the pieces she wears are gorgeous! Her style is effortless.
Thank you so much for all your questions and to everyone who entered the giveaway – a huge congratulations again to Bronagh for being selected as the winner! Your prize will be on it’s way to you soon and I hope you enjoy it!
