Meet the Blogger – Isabel

Hello, hello, hello! My name is Isabel and I am the founder of fashion, makeup and lifestyle blog – Styling Canvas.

I am currently 17 years old and I live in the sunny southeast of Mexico. I’m a senior in high school and I plan on going away to college in a couple months to major in Graphic Design and Marketing! I’m really, really excited. I danced for about 9 years of my life before I decided it was time to part ways with that world and focus on other things.

I ran into Chanelle’s blog and immediately became obsessed with it. Because that does not sound creepy at all! I’m not a creep. I promise.

Can we have some of Camp Rock’s This Is Me playing in the background? Cheesy music. And now, here are some questions I got to answer:

1. When did you begin blogging?

I posted my first blog post back in March but I did not consistently blog until a couple of weeks ago!

2. How did you decide on a name for your blog?

I really gave some thought to the name of my blog. I knew the two main topics of my blog would be makeup and fashion, so I brainstormed some ideas until I came up with Styling Canvas. The term ‘styling’ is pretty self explanatory – fashion, while ‘canvas’ is sort of the metaphor-kind of word I chose for the makeup-y side of my blog, since your face/body is a blank canvas before the actual paint (makeup).

Styling Canvas is an idea – you can express yourself and who you are with your clothes and makeup. You style your own canvas.

3. What inspired you to start your blog?

The idea that I could potentially inspire my readers to be themselves.

4. What is your favourite thing about running a blog?

The feedback! Whether that happens to be good feedback or bad feedback; it’s always good to know what people think of the content you’re posting and thinking how you can improve it.

These three are definitely my top favourites!

6. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

I really don’t want to think of BIG, long term goals because I can really be too hard on myself when it comes to accomplishing them. As for now, I am just trying to get to know different bloggers and share my personal style with my followers.

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers? Tips, pointers etc.

Socialise! It doesn’t matter how great you think your blog is, if you don’t leave your own personal bubble and try to see what other people are also offering, you and your blog won’t grow!

8. What keeps you blogging?

I get to talk about things I am genuinely interested in. I really am passionate about this.

Pink, blue and violet. 🙂

Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Don’t judge me!
