Redhead Rambles #15

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • To be honest I had a lazy weekend. I read, napped and ate pretty much.
  • On Sunday I tried to purchase a copy of Kylie Minogue’s new album ‘Golden’ but the store only had the regular edition and I wanted the deluxe! I ordered a deluxe copy online and it arrived on Wednesday. It would have been Tuesday but no one was home when the courier attempted delivery.
  • I tested Rimmel’s Match Perfection foundation with MAC’s StudioFinish concealer again and it didn’t crease and sink into fine lines. I only wore moisturiser and no primer – maybe that’s the key.
  • On Tuesday I came home from work with a headache. I had some mini cinnamon donuts and lay down until I felt better.
  • The Commonwealth Games are on TV and normal programming is on a break so mum and I have been getting through a number of movies this week. They all count towards my goal to watch 20 new movies in 2018.
  • On Thursday I got my hair cut. I wanted to get it done before schools break up for two weeks and I had been looking forward to it for a while. It’s so nice to have thin, lighter hair. I decided to keep the layers but only have two instead of three and get a lot of the heaviness taken out. I got my fringe trimmed as well. I never get dye or colour put in. Check out my Instagram @chanellehayley_ to see a pic!
  • I’ve been listening to music a lot this week and it reminds me how much I adore it. Music will always be the most important thing to me and it makes me think of days I would come home from school and sing for hours.
  • I cleaned my foundation makeup brushes, they get the most use and need cleaning more frequently than the others.
  • I mentioned last week the weather was still warm but that’s certainly changed, there’s been a cold snap this week and even though I prefer being cold to being hot it does make me appreciate the mild, in between months.

What I’ve been listening to:

Calvin Harris – One Kiss (with Dua Lipa) – I adore the tone of Dua Lipa’s voice, it is strong and kind of deep but her tracks are always catchy and she’s one of the ‘popular’ artists I like.

Shane Filan – Back To You – Shane is one of my absolute favourite artists! As always his voice sounds beautiful and I love when he drops new music without warning.

Andy Brown – Put That Record On – A singer whose voice gives me tingles when I listen to it. I’m so excited for Andy’s country/pop album in June!

What I’ve Been Watching:

Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated – I’m not a fan of Demi Lovato but I thought her YouTube original documentary would be a gripping watch and I wasn’t wrong. I like how honest Demi and everyone was and seeing behind the scenes of Demi in the recording studio. If you’re a fan or you enjoy music, I urge you to watch this.

Redhead Rambles #2

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • It’s been a sad week. My cat had to be put down. I dedicated a post to Tango and explain more HERE.
  • Mum and I have reminisced a lot about Tango. We are in the process of deciding whether we will get another cat. We visited the SPCA but they said they don’t have a lot of cats and kittens at the moment. Another option would be to get another Birman from the breeder we purchased Tango from.
  • Rachael gave us a heads up on beauty products she was disappointed by in 2017. Click her name to read what she wasn’t a fan of.
  • There was a double episode of Pretty Little Liars which made me happy.
  • The weather is back to hot – not a fan.
  • Work is busy.
  • Pointless Blog uploaded his first vlog of 2018.
  • Understandably, my mood has been low.
  • I started a book but stopped reading it after 50 pages because it wasn’t hitting the spot. You’ll see which one in my What I’ve Been Reading – Summer roundup.
  • I am attempting to cut down on sugar and make better food choices.
  • I want to start yoga again.

What I’ve been listening to:

Rita Ora & Liam Payne – For You – I have been a fan of Rita Ora since she released ORA in 2012. This song is the lead single for the final movie in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. I have watched the first two movies and I intend to watch the third.

Vanessa White – Chapter Two – Vanessa released her second EP in 2017 and the songs are SO GOOD! A couple of songs came up on shuffle this week and reminded me how much I love the EP.

Redhead Rambles #1

Hello everyone and welcome to the first post of my new series ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series will do what it says on the tin, it will be a redhead (me) who rambles about her week. Ramble means I will be sharing what I’ve been up to that week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will share favourite blog posts from fellow bloggers and articles I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • Last week I had a few headaches and felt a little nauseous and I wonder if it was a result of the extra sugar and chocolate I’d been eating over Christmas. I have felt better this week.
  • I watched a film with my boyfriend on New Year’s Eve called Our Kind of Traitor and it was excellent! A couple find themselves lured into a Russian oligarch’s plans to defect. They are positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service, neither of whom they can trust. It’s not the usual type of film I go for but it was really interesting and one I’d watch again.
  • I welcomed 2018 in by watching fireworks. Did you do anything to celebrate?
  • The Royal Variety Performance for 2017 left me disappointed. I don’t find Miranda Hart funny and the lineup wasn’t as good as other years.
  • On New Year’s Day I stumbled across a post on The Anna Edit about her Bullet Journal and planning tips. I’d watched Lily Pebbles’ video about her Bullet Journal a few weeks earlier and thought the concept seemed fun. I have a planner where I write appointments and things I’ve got to do but it’s not a place where I can keep organised lists and have structure without being confined to a weekly layout.
  • On Tuesday I went out and purchased my own Bullet Journal! I spent most of the afternoon researching layouts, watching YouTube videos and journalling. I’m thinking of doing a blog post about my Bullet Journal in the coming weeks so you can see what I’m using it for and the journal and stationery I’ll be using. Most of this week has been spent obsessing over my Bullet Journal to be honest.
  • Wednesday was my first day back at work for 2018 and it was SUPER BUSY! It was the library’s equivalent of Boxing Day sales.
  • The Christmas tree came down.
  • I got my fringe cut. I can’t wait to get a proper haircut but I have to wait for the shortest layer to grow. I want to go back to my hair being all the same length, I’m over layers.
  • The weather has been rainy and dull this week which I really enjoy. Everything feels cosier.

What I’ve been listening to:

Steps – Tears On the Dancefloor – My favourite album of 2017 and my favourite band. It seemed only right to play it on New Year’s Day.

The Wanted – Word of Mouth – I don’t listen to as many boybands as girlbands but I felt like playing this album this week. It has some great pop tracks and uptempo songs.

ABBA – Gold – I was introduced to ABBA as a child by my mum and I have loved them ever since. This album is a classic and every so often I’m in the mood to listen to it.

Week In Review: December 15 – December 21, 2014

I post an update here every Sunday giving an overview of my week. Accompanying photos from my Instagram are also included. Here’s the latest:

Only 4 sleeps left until Christmas! Who’s excited?! This week has mostly been about getting prepared for the big day and involved some Christmas shopping and wrapping of the presents.

Sign for Minogue Park Purchases from Hamilton

My brother took the day off from work on Wednesday and planned to go to on a road trip to Hamilton. He asked me if I wanted to go with and I said yes so we toodled off very early to get to Hamilton in time for the shops to open at 9am. Meanwhile, I’d been awake since 4am and cycled 10km on the Exercycle before we left. Driving through the city I spotted a sign with Minogue Park on it and being the huge fan of Kylie and Dannii Minogue that I am I had to take a picture of it. I think the picture turned out pretty well for being taken in a car, and I also think the top of the sky looks so pretty! I didn’t buy very much but I did manage to get a Christmas present each for my brother and my mum (adding to what I’ve already bought them).

The second picture is what I bought for myself: a roll of gold vintage rose washi tape, a Keep Calm And… 2015 calendar and a set of 5 mini cards from kikki.K. I’m actually using the washi tape for next week’s layout in my Filofax and it’s lovely!

On Thursday morning I wrapped up the presents to pop under the tree. I listened to Light Up the World by Steps and had a ball! See the original post here.

It was the final of Strictly Come Dancing in The UK last night (Saturday) and unfortunately Frankie and Kevin, my favourites, finished runner-up. Huge congratulations to Caroline and Pasha for winning!

The second half of this week has been horrible weather-wise. Not cold and rainy, which I’d prefer, but the humidity is so draining. It’s weird to think even after 19 Christmases in summertime I’m still not used to it haha.

Anyway, that’s all for this week and I hope all of my lovely followers have a truly magical Christmas! Expect to hear about my day in next week’s Week In Review post 🙂

Week In Review: November 24 – November 30, 2014

I post an update here every Sunday giving an overview of my week. Accompanying photos from my Instagram are also included. Here’s the latest:

This week’s weather started off sunny and very humid but by the weekend it had cooled down and we even had some rain. Monday and Tuesday in particular reinforced that summer is on its way. I’m not really a fan of the heat, I’d much rather be cold. Weird I know! 😛

QuoteOnly Human

At the beginning of the week I posted this quote I found on Tumblr to Instagram. It’s all about being yourself and not trying to impress people for the sake of being liked. I’ve always felt like I’m a bit of an individual and in most ways I appreciate that but I don’t feel like I’ve ever found people who belong in my life and want to stay. Even though this makes me a little sad I’m not going to stop hoping that one day I’ll find someone who does.

On Wednesday my copy of Only Human arrived. It was only dispatched the previous Friday so it was a pleasant surprise it came so quickly! I talked a bit more about the album in November’s 30 Days To Love post.

It was Thanksgiving in the US on Thursday and I hope all my lovely American bloggers and anyone who celebrates it had a wonderful day! If you went shopping on Black Friday I hope you managed to pick up some bargains!

JAGOne of my aunt’s Birman cats is staying over for the weekend while she’s out of town for a seminar. His name is JAG (which stands for Just Absolutely Gorgeous) and he is a lilac-point as opposed to my Birman, Tango, who is a seal-point and much darker. Point refers to the colour of the ears, face and paws. JAG and Tango hadn’t met before Friday and I don’t think Tango quite knows what to make of him. They haven’t fought though which is good.

I can’t believe it’s December next week already, it’s crazy how fast the year has gone! Are you looking forward to the holiday season?

Chanelle x
