Auckland Shopping Haul

Auckland Shopping Haul

In Friday’s post I mentioned there would be a haul featuring all the bits I purchased when I was in Auckland last week and I thought what better way to kick off a new week than with said post! A couple of items in this post have been on my wishlist for a while and I’m really glad I was able to pick them up. Let’s jump straight in!

Forever New Scarlett Quilted Bag1. Forever New Scarlett Quilted Small Bag

One of the things on my list was a little, elegant bag that could be used in the evenings if I go out or if I’m out in the day and don’t need to take a lot with me. I don’t own a lot of handbags and I certainly didn’t have any little evening bags. This instantly reminded me of a Chanel style bag with the quilting and the chain. The chain is adjustable and can be used in two different ways: it can be worn long across the body or over the shoulder or doubled up to form two straps. I used this bag on Friday night and went with the latter. The bag is nice and light and is fully lined with card slots and a zip pocket. Everything fits comfortably and it is the perfect size!

Forever New Lee Cosmetic Case2. Forever New Lee Cosmetic Case

I have a few cosmetic cases in different sizes and I find depending on the amount of makeup you’re using or how long you’re traveling for, it’s not always one size fits all. For example, I would likely use this case for a week away rather than a weekend away. I really like the metallic, glitzy look of this case and how it’s structured on the bottom so will stand up. I also like that the material is malleable rather than stiff and allows you to pack contents more than one way.

NYX Buenos Aires3. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Buenos Aires

I know NYX has recently arrived in New Zealand and after hearing so many bloggers rave about their Soft Matte Lip Creams, I had to try one for myself! I Googled the shades, watched YouTube videos with swatches and narrowed it down to a few I was going to look for. I didn’t want to go down the usual pinky-nude route and I loved the coral tones of Buenos Aires. The shade makes me think of Tanya Burr’s lipgloss in ‘I Found Nemo’ if it was matte. I can’t wait to try this out!

Typo Twinkle Lights4. Typo Twinkle Lights 1.5m

Another item from my wishlist: copper twinkle lights. I have seen these used by a lot of bloggers lately and I wanted to get my hands on some. I tried looking online and everything seemed expensive or didn’t ship to New Zealand. I haven’t decided whether I will use these for blog photographs or if I will put them in a jar as shown on the box. The lights are bendable so you can arrange them how you’d like and they come with batteries so you’ll know exactly which ones you’re looking for when these run out.

Typo Mini Marquee Light5. Typo Mini Marquee Light

I have always loved the look of these marquee lights and I’ve wanted one for ages! This is a mini light which measures 10cms high. Typo do make larger marquee lights as well but I couldn’t find a ‘C’ in the larger size. I do like mini things though and this will look cute sitting on my desk. These feature a hook on the back so they can also be hung.

Rimmel 60 Second Super Shine Nail Polishes6. Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Polishes

Ever since I purchased Bestival Blue from the same range back in June I have been a fan. Rimmel Polishes aren’t always sold in my city so I always make sure to look at the colours when I’m away. I really liked the look of the lilac tones of Go Wild-Er-Ness, we will be going into spring/summer soon and pastel shades always look so nice. I also picked up Neon Fest because it reminded me of fuchsia lipstick which is my favourite to wear and I don’t have a fuchsia-type polish so I thought, why not?!

Cotton On Archy Pullover7. Cotton On Archy Crop Pullover – Airforce Twist

I purchased this pullover on my last day in Auckland. I instantly fell in love with the colour and the style of it. It’s a cropped jumper which looks normal length on me because I’m short but I don’t mind that at all. The pullover features side splits and a high-low hem. The style of the neck is really flattering and sits nicely.

Royal Albert Diffuser8. Royal Albert Diffuser – Sweet Pea & Hyacinth

I am one of your typical bloggers who loves burning candles but I don’t do it often enough. Sometimes I don’t have a couple of hours spare to let it burn evenly and it seems like I almost have to plan out when I can burn one. Home decor items always look lovely in store and I decided to take the plunge and purchase a reed diffuser. That way, I get the nice scent without having to burn a candle and worry if I’ve forgotten to blow it out or not. I chose the Sweet Pea & Hyacinth scent which is quite sweet but isn’t too floral or overpowering.

So, that’s everything I picked up in Auckland! I made a list before I left and I managed to cross a few things off it. I didn’t want to go overboard and buy too much in case it didn’t fit in my suitcase but everything did. I was very clever with my packing and put most of the items inside the silver cosmetic case. What do you think of the items I bought?

The Me Spree: Birthday Edition

The Me Spree: Birthday EditionHey there! In my New In: January post I mentioned I had plenty of bits and bobs I’d picked up throughout the month to share with you and most of them actually feature in this post. Mum and I went away for a few days at the end of January to celebrate our birthdays and I did a fair bit of shopping. I am still coming to grips with everything I bought and trying to find places for some of it.

Just a quick note, not all the images in this post are mine. Due to the sheer number of items, I only photographed items I couldn’t find images of online.

Me Spree Birthday Edition Buys1. The Body Shop Golden Glimmer Sparkler | Who doesn’t need glitter in a spray bottle?! These were part of The Body Shop’s Christmas 2015 range and I can’t believe I didn’t know about these until a friend told me three weeks ago. 2. Cotton On Anna High Neck Tee | I saw a top similar to this online and fell in love with it. I love how it’s fitted but still accentuates curves. The sleeve length is lovely. 3. Forever New Joan Laser Pouch Case | This little pouch instantly screamed glam to me! It is a lilac/nude colour with silver diamante detailing and I thought this would be good for those days where you want to bring the essentials with you but don’t need a handbag. 4. Wire Storage Basket – Copper | I don’t know what I’m going to use this basket for yet but there are loads of possibilities. It was too cute not to buy!

5. Dotti Piece of Art Tee | I don’t have a lot of printed clothing in my wardrobe but the colours on this top work and I really like the print. It’s different and the material is so light, it’s perfect for summer. 6. kikki.K 3 Piece Bowl Set | I picked up this set of ceramic bowls on sale and I thought they would be good for keeping jewellery and little bits in. The bowls are part kikki.K’s Be Brave collection. 7. kikki.K CD Storage Box | kikki.K make a range of different sized boxes for storage and photos and they come in different colours. I chose this white glossy box to keep all my craft goodies together. 8. kikki.K Glitter Tape 2M | I am partial to sparkle so I needed this glitter tape in my life!

9. Typo Pastel Aztec Pencil Case | How well does this match the Dotti Piece of Art Tee?! I have always had a slight obsession with pencil cases and the pink, pretty print and gold suckered me in. 10. Typo A5 Spinout Notebook | I have spoken before about my love for these notebooks and when I see a cover I like I try to pick one up. I really like the message and colours on this notebook and hope to use it as a blog planner. 11. Pagani Basic Tee | As soon as I walked into the store I spotted this tee and the blush with black looked absolutely beautiful. I tried this on and ended up buying a couple of sizes smaller than I’m used to. 12. Rubi Jodi Sneakers Black Glitter | I didn’t realise glittery sneakers were a thing but I’ve jumped on the bandwagon. These were only $10 so even if they don’t last that long, I’m not fussed.Me Spree Birthday Buys

13. Dotti Pom Pom Keyring | I have been looking for one of these pom poms for a while now and finally found one I’m happy with. I knew I wanted a light colour to contrast with my black handbag and I wanted it to look ‘right’. A lot of other ones I saw didn’t look symmetrically round and the fur felt cheap. This one doesn’t have real fur but it feels soft and is much nicer than others I’ve seen. 14. TEMT Singlets 2 For $10 | Singlets are always good for summer and underneath other tops for layering. 15. TEMT Tops 2 For $20 | I chose a white sheer sleeveless blouse and a navy strappy top with gorgeous back detail.

16. Typo Write Away Multi Pen Pack | As a blogger and stationery enthusiast you can never have enough pens! This pack features six metallic colours: green, gold, silver, pink, blue and copper. 17. Lovisa Rose Gold Ring | I am a huge fan of rose gold and it was my mum who spotted this ring and told me to buy it – such an enabler! 18. kikki.K Cute Notebook Elastic | These elastics are pen holders for notebooks and come in two sizes, small and large. I bought the A5 size as most notebooks I own are smaller rather than larger.

TEMT Navy TopBack detailing on navy top.

I also got two MAC products which I decided not to include in this post. If you want to read about them check out last week’s post, New MAC Products. The patentpolish lip pencil was a gift from my brother and I purchased the lipstick myself.

So, that’s everything! I hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve been doing to my bank balance and if you have any questions or want to know more, leave a comment below!

Boxing Day Specials

Boxing Day SpecialsHello there! I know Boxing Day was a week and a half ago but last week was busy with my yearly wrap up posts and I haven’t had a chance to share what I purchased in the sales with you until now. Everything I purchased was on sale and I’m proud of the fact I didn’t purchase one beauty product! Let’s get straight into it!

Pink Christmas Tree

1. Typo Mini Christmas Tree – Fluro Pink

I saw this mini Christmas tree as soon I walked into the store and instantly knew I wanted to buy it for my mum. She loves mini things and her and I both love bright colours. We’ve joked how next Christmas we’re just going to put this tree up instead of our big one.

Regular Price: $11.99 | Sale Price: $5.00

Handbag

2. Marikai Circle Chain Tote – Black

For a little while now I’ve been on the hunt for a new handbag and I found one that fits my criteria. Currently I’ve got a small shoulder bag and I still plan on using that for work but this black tote caught my eye. It’s a good size, has a zip closure which I like (safety first) as well as internal and external pockets. The bag also has a removable cross body strap if you want to wear it hands free. One thing I liked when modelling this bag was how lightweight it felt and the versatility in how you can wear it; hold it in your hand, wear it over your arm, put it on your shoulder or wear it across your body. The metal chains don’t make the bag bulky either.

Regular Price: $74.99 | Sale Price: $49.99

Boxing Day Purchases

3. Kylie Minogue – Kylie Christmas (Deluxe Edition)

I’m not the biggest lover of Christmas music and despite being a HUGE Kylie fan I originally had no intentions to buy this album. What got me interested was the news of a duet with Dannii and the thought of a magical Minogue-tastic Christmas track. I listened to the album on Spotify when it was released and I’m glad to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It’s not cheesy covers that have been done to death, there are still Christmas classics but Kylie has put her spin on each track, old and new. In fact, there are six originals on the album! I can definitely see this being an album I have on repeat during the festive season and I can’t wait to get it out again next Christmas!

Regular Price: $29.99 | Sale Price: $23.99

4. kikki.K Reusable Tote Bag

As you lot already know I’m a sucker for kikki.K and I can’t resist a look everytime I pass by a shop, which unfortunately is not very often. At the back of the shop I saw a sale bin and was rifling through when I found this tote bag. The bag is made of umbrella-like material and is light pink with a cute little fox design. The bag comes in it’s own pouch and I plan on keeping this inside the black handbag mentioned above. This bag will be perfect for shopping and trying to keep bits and pieces dry from the rain.

Regular Price: $12.90 | Sale Price: $6.45

5. kikki.K Minimalist Phone Case

Sad news, last week I noticed a crack in my Lili Price geometric phone case and ended up purchasing this one from kikki.K as a backup. The crack is pretty small and I know it’s there but luckily it’s near one of the corners so it’s not too noticeable. This phone case is from kikki.K’s Minimalist collection which embodies simplicity and lots of black and white which I love. I had actually seen this phone case prior to purchasing my Lili Price one and seriously considered it as an option then. When I saw it again there was something telling me to get it, so I did. The message on the back reads: “Talk, Share, Inspire, Connect, Love” – simple but effective. I feel it relates to me as a blogger and how important it is to appreciate those things in life.

Regular Price: $12.90 | Sale Price: $6.45

I hope you enjoyed seeing everything I picked up! As you can see I didn’t go overboard in the sales but I still got some good bargains. Let me know what you managed to pick up!

HUGE Me Spree

Me Spree, Real Techniques, makeup brushes, mascara, Rimmel London, Rimmel Super Curler,Hi everyone! I’ve got a huge (by my standards) haul to share with you today. I’ve been excited to do this post and the final items arrived this week so it’s perfect timing. Anyone would think with the amount of new arrivals and purchases lately it was already Christmas but everything so far has been for myself… oops! We all deserve to treat ourselves once in a while though, don’t we?!?!

This is the post where I lose my make up brush virginity, step out of my comfort zone with sexy dresses and of course share what other beauty bits I’ve picked up. Sit back and relax, I have a feeling this is going to be a long one!

I have also linked as many products available online as I can find if you’re interested in checking them out.

Fashion

Ralphie 2 PulloverRalphie 2 Pullover – $20 | I picked up this cream pullover sweater because I don’t have anything like this in my wardrobe already and I thought it looked so comfy and cosy for winter time. This will look super cute paired with jeans and leggings.

Dannii For Target DressesDannii Minogue Petites One Shoulder Dress – $35 | Asymmetric isn’t a style of dress I thought would suit me but this dress does. I love the pattern and how it transforms this dress from an ordinary LBD. The fabric is comfortable to wear and holds you in all the right places.

Dannii Minogue Petites Metallic Cocktail Dress – $30 | I didn’t think strapless would suit me either but how wrong I was! I love the little pockets in this dress with the faux leather trim. The material is so light and the gold flecks make this dress look stunning. I can’t wait to wear this one out or for a special occasion.

Petites Dresses

Beauty – Makeup

Real Techniques, Rimmel London, Mascara, makeup brushes, nail polish, rose gold,Real Techniques Makeup Brushes | I have been looking at purchasing some of the Real Techniques brushes for months and I finally decided on a few. I picked brushes I thought would be useful for a beginner like me and make a good starter set. Prices as follows:

1. Setting Brush $12.28

2. Shading Brush $9.20

3. Blush Brush $13.81

4. Expert Face Brush $13.81

Total = $49.10*

*I received an additonal discount of $4.91 as part of a November special and ended up paying $44.19 instead of $49.10. My brushes were purchased from iHerb.

Rimmel Super Curler Mascara – $14.99 | I’d seen Rimmel’s new Super Curler mascara on Instagram recently and wanted to try it ever since! I’ve mentioned before that Rimmel mascaras are my favourite, they are so easy to remove, last all day, don’t irritate my eyes and are good value for money. I think the reason I like Rimmel mascara so much is because wire bristles do more for my lashes than plastic bristles. I love the purple tube too – this certainly won’t get lost in your makeup bag!

Rubi Nail Polish in Rose Gold – $3.46 | Like a lot of other people I have jumped on the rose gold trend and think the colour is absolutely beautiful! I tried this on my nails last week and the formula lasts surprisingly well. The polish isn’t streaky and doesn’t chip easily. The only downside would be how strong this polish smells but for the price I can’t really complain.

Beauty – Hair

TRESemme, Salon Silk, Shampoo, Conditioner,

1. TRESemmé Salon Silk Shampoo 500ml  – $4.97

2. TRESemmé Salon Silk Conditioner 900ml – $12.00

“The TRESemmé Salon Silk shampoo and conditioner system delivers intense moisture where your hair needs it most, calming frizz and flyaways without weighing hair down. Light enough for daily use, this advanced smoothing system with argan oil cleanses and helps tame unruly hair, leaving it smooth and salon-soft.”

I wanted to change up my usual shampoo and conditioner and I’d read about TRESemmé’s Salon Silk range online. I’m going to the hairdresser tomorrow and I’m looking forward to using this on my freshly cut hair.

Homeware

Typo, Industrial lamp, rose gold lampRose Gold Industrial Lamp – $48.99 | I’ve been thinking about getting a lamp for my room for a while now. About a year ago I saw a standing spotlight lamp and thought it looked really cool but didn’t think it would be practical for my room and the space I had. I saw a lamp similar to the one I picked up in a magazine and knew it would be perfect. I was torn between rose gold and silver but went for rose gold as I thought silver may tarnish (#practical).

Disclaimer: All items are in New Zealand dollars and were purchased by me. Prices include discounts which may no longer be valid.

Typo Haul

Woohoo the second arrival of the week! My Typo order arrived this morning and as promised here is a look at what I got.

Typo arrivals

I have also included images of the items close up below:

A5 spinout notebooks
I love the covers on these A5 spinout notebooks! Each notebook contains 120 lined pages and features a flexi hard cover as well as a cardboard divider at the front of the notebook. The elastic closure allows you to keep all of your notes, doodles and clippings safe.

Camera paper clips

Aren’t these camera paper clips just the cutest? The little container they come in is so handy to store them so they don’t get lost. Instagram is one of my favourite apps so they’re perfect for amateur photographers like myself.

Pencil case

In the past I have had an issue with buying more pencil cases than I probably needed to but I haven’t bought one for a while. I chose this bright blue case made of tinted plastic and plan to keep the pens I write in my exercise diary/food journal with in it.

Washi tape

Probably what I was most looking forward to from this order: washi tape. I ordered four sets (Left to Right: Bunnies, Orange Pattern, Blue Floral and Blue Pattern), each containing three rolls of tape. Pink, blue and orange feature across all three sets so they will go with each other.

Flat wrap

Typo flat wrap measures 50cms by 70cms and is great for wrapping gifts. The flatness of it means you don’t have to worry about tackling a whole roll of wrapping paper. This pattern is lovely too, the pastel colours make it girly and summery.

These items* can be purchased online from TypoShop.com.au
*Typo flat wrap ‘Beach West’ is currently unavailable online.

Spend Your Love On Me

Hope your week is off to a great start and you have lots of exciting things planned! I, like most people, absolutely love online shopping and went on a wee spree on Saturday.

1. Typo is one of my favourite discoveries of 2014 and it’s lucky there isn’t a store in my city otherwise I’d be in every week – their stuff is adorable! The online store was having a 30% off sale and I really wanted some thin 5mm washi tape. I ended up buying some other pieces as well, including two A5 notebooks. I currently use one for my food journal/exercise diary.

2. My Filofax didn’t come with any MO2P inserts so my brother is buying me some for Christmas. I love having everything neat and tidy so purchased some Mark-it Dots to use for colour coding my monthly calendars. I bought a set of the medium (1/4″) mixed colour transparent dots as well as a set of the small (1/8″) mixed colour dots for my brother from Stickers and Things.

3. Lastly, I purchased a pair of Rockstars from Australian footwear giant Holster as I have been a fan of the shoes since Dannii Minogue became an ambassador. I choose Pewter because most of the shoes I already own are black and I wanted another neutral colour to maximise wear-ability. Holster are having a huge 60% off sale until 31 July so get in quick to nab yourself a pair!

When my purchases arrive I’ll share them with you in a more detailed post.

Stationery Haul (June)

kikki.K page markers Typo pens

  • In Auckland earlier this month I bought the cutest set of page markers from Kikki K (currently unavailable online). The range they feature in is even called ‘Cute’ that’s how adorable they are! Personally, I’m using one as a book mark, but they’d be great to use for adding colour to any part of your workspace. If you’re looking to hold a large number of pages together in your planner for example, these probably aren’t the best option and I’d recommend looking at something like Oli clips.
  • Typo fine liner pens – These pens come in a range of colours and as the name suggests, the nib is super fine. The pens themselves are also slim so don’t take up a lot of room in your pencil case or pen holder. These pens are identical to Typo’s needle me pens but only feature coloured tops and lids. (The dark blue and green pens are needle me, the rest are fine liner).

Notepads and page flags

  • Yesterday I managed to pick up these notepads for only 99 cents each and some assorted sticky notes I have slotted into the front of my planner. The larger sticky notes will come in handy for ‘To Do’ lists.
