5 Disappointing Beauty Products

5-disappointing-beauty-products

Disclosure: All opinions are my own and don’t reflect how a product may work and benefit the majority of people.

We all like to spend our money on worthwhile products and it’s always a shame when you try something that doesn’t live up to the hype or you don’t get along with a product for whatever reason. I try to research and read reviews before I commit to buying products but sometimes no matter how many glowing reviews a product has there will still be people it doesn’t work for. I love reading these types of posts and I haven’t talked about products that disappoint me before so I thought it was time to change that!

#1. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Buenos Aires

I was super excited when I saw NYX in New Zealand and even more excited to buy/try one of their Soft Matte Lip Creams. In August I purchased the shade Buenos Aires which is a soft coral. Because this is a light colour it doesn’t apply smoothly and applies patchy. I find blotting in between coats helps slightly but this colour doesn’t live up to what I thought it would. I have heard other shades in the range are hit or miss when it comes to formula and application and it has put me off purchasing more colours. I have barely worn Buenos Aires and I’ve come to the conclusion that orange tones don’t suit my lips (apart from I Found Nemo by Tanya Burr).

#2. Simple Moisturising facial wash

Fellow bloggers are always talking about the importance of skincare and I purchased this facial wash in an attempt to get into a skincare routine. I started off well, I would wash my face with this in the morning before applying my trusty Simple moisturiser but I quickly began to notice a difference to my skin. Thankfully, it didn’t break me out or cause a reaction but it made my skin feel and look greasy and it didn’t feel very moisturising. I still have this product sitting in my beauty basket on my dresser. It’s nearly a year old and it’s almost full but unfortunately this will be going in the bin.

#3. Garnier Micellar Water

This is one product that I have a love/hate relationship with. When I first got this I really liked it and even included it in a monthly favourites. It removed makeup well and again didn’t cause my skin any problems but it didn’t do anything for my skin either. This is still in my beauty basket as well and it hasn’t been touched for months. I noticed a six month expiration date on the bottle and I purchased this mid 2015 so I think it’s time to go! It baffles me how quickly bloggers go through one of these big bottles and if I try this again I will opt for the travel size or try one of the other types of micellar water.

#4. W7 In the nude eyeshadow palette

I bought this eyeshadow palette because it was $12 (NZD) and I thought I was getting a decent dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette. Truth is, I have barely reached for this palette since purchasing it in March and that’s down to the formulation of the shadows themselves. I love the pink, bronzey tones of the palette but the pigmentation is dire and a lot of the shades feel chalky and powdery. I’m considering passing this on and perhaps purchasing the Iconic 3 from Makeup Revolution instead.

#5. Maybelline Colour Tattoos

I can’t speak for all shades of Colour Tattoo but the two I have aren’t outstanding. They don’t feel very creamy and apply patchy on my eyelids. I only wear Barely Branded as a base before applying the gold shade from Maybelline’s ‘The Nudes’ palette over the top. Inked In Pink is such a beautiful rose gold shade but because it feels dry and doesn’t apply smoothly it makes my eye area look red. I don’t know whether I got bad batches or if these shades are patchy for everyone but I much prefer the formula of Max Factor’s Excess Shimmer shadows. There aren’t as many colour options but I haven’t stopped reaching for Copper all year!

Have you tried these products? Were you impressed or disappointed like I was?

Spring Makeup | Collaboration with Drifting Lexi

spring-makeup

Back in April, Lauren from Drifting Lexi and I did a Spring/Autumn makeup collaboration. We each came up with a look to represent the season we were going into as we live on opposite sides of the world! Six months later, and it’s time for a role reversal – it’s my turn to showcase a Spring inspired look. I wanted it to be bright and fresh and I definitely achieved that!

Note: This look also doubled as the makeup I wore to Ellie Goulding’s concert at the weekend.

Products Used:

spring-makeup-products

As usual, I began by applying my trusty Simple moisturiser.

  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel
  • Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – This foundation gives skin a lovely, natural appearance whilst still making the skin look flawless. This is due to the medium-high coverage of the foundation. (I also used this foundation because it is more travel friendly than Rimmel’s Match Perfection which comes in a glass bottle).
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair
  • Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barely Branded – I applied this shade as a base to my eyelids, making it easier for eyeshadow to stick to.
  • Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette – I patted the gold shade all over my lids on top of Barely Branded.
  • Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara – I applied one coat of lengthening mascara before going in with one coat of volume mascara a couple of minutes later.
  • Dainty Doll Powder Blush 004 You Are My Sunshine – The flecks of gold in this blush make it perfect to highlight my cheekbones. It also teams so well with the gold eye look.
  • MAC Without Your Love – This lipstick is a beautiful pop of light pink and I love wearing this shade with the eye look above. Without Your Love brings the look together and makes everything look fresh and bright!
  • Rimmel Oh My Gloss! #150 Glossaholic – Without Your Love is quite a pale shade and I find adding a lick of gloss over it tops everything off nicely and completes the look.

Top 10 Under $10

Top 10 Under $10

Everyone loves a beauty bargain! When it comes to price, expensive isn’t always better and it’s well known that there are plenty of affordable products to rival high end competitors. Makeup in New Zealand can be overpriced but I suppose that is the price we pay (literally!) for being a small country right at the bottom of the world. I am pretty frugal when it comes to money and while I do splurge occasionally, I use a number of inexpensive makeup items from day to day. Almost all of my makeup is drugstore. I can’t justify high end prices but that doesn’t mean I can’t look nice. Today I’m sharing 10 products under $10 (NZD) that I wouldn’t be without!

Top 10 Under $10 Items#1. Makeup Revolution Iconic Palettes

If you didn’t already know, Makeup Revolution’s Iconic palettes are dupes for the Naked palettes by Urban Decay. I’ve seen so many bloggers and beauty gurus rave about the quality of Urban Decay eyeshadows and a lot of people have recommended Makeup Revolution’s offerings as an alternative. I personally haven’t tried the Naked palettes (I don’t even know if they’re sold in New Zealand) so I can’t compare the two but I purchased the Iconic 1 and Iconic 2 in May and they are worth every penny! I don’t think I could spend a huge amount of money on an eyeshadow palette unless I was going to use it every single day when I can find something similar for a fraction of the price. Call me stingy or cheap, but these do what I want them to and I love them. They may not be the longest wearing eyeshadows but the shades are gorgeous, there’s minimal fallout and they blend nicely.

#2. I ♡ Makeup Goddess of Love Highlighter

I purchased this highlighter in May along with the Iconic palettes and oh my goodness it is one of the prettiest products I own without a doubt! The heart packaging is adorable and the amount of product you get is incredible. Goddess of Love may look plain but on closer inspection it has pinky-lilac flecks running through it and because it’s a triple baked highlighter it’s beautifully soft and doesn’t feel powdery at all. I find this shade is quite versatile and goes with a range of looks, it gives the loveliest glow which enhances your skin. Goddess of Love looks more intense when applied with a finger but my favourite way to apply it is with my Real Techniques Setting Brush to give a softer glow.

#3. BYS Fuchsia Surprise Lipstick

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while now, you’ll know that this is my favourite lipstick in the world! This lipstick is also really special because it was my first proper lipstick that I bought when I started getting into makeup. I have talked about this lipstick so many times and I cannot praise it enough. The formula is so buttery and smooth and the wear time is impeccable. I even have a story to prove it: a couple of years ago I was at a friend’s party and I was the only one who hadn’t been drinking and I ended up being sick. I was staying the night and when I got up the next morning, my lipstick was still in tact.

#4. Impulse Into Glamour Body Spray

This body spray is one of those products that I always repurchase. I don’t have any at the moment as I’m using a body mist I got for my birthday but when that runs out, I’ll go back to this. Into Glamour is made up of sandalwood and vanilla – I seem to have a thing for vanilla scents. I have worn this ever since The Saturdays endorsed it back in 2009. These cans are so lightweight and easy to pop in your handbag, especially now they’re smaller.

#5. Simple Moisturiser

This is another product I have used for years and I have never experienced any problems or irritation. I’ve used both the Hydrating Light Moisturiser and the Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, which I think is slightly better for my skin. The Rich moisturiser feels more nourishing and keeps my skin softer. My favourite thing about Simple moisturiser is that there’s no perfume so it’s completely scent free and it also contains vitamins and skin loving nutrients.

#6. Revlon Lip Butters

Back in April when I did The Lip Product Tag, I chose Revlon’s lip butters as my favourite drugstore lip product. I own five pretty bold shades and there are still a couple of others I’d like to swatch or pick up one day. In total, there are more than 20 shades ranging from brights to neutrals. I really like the lip butters because they are very comfortable on the lips and they can be worn lightly as a stain or built up for more colour. I also adore the quilted packaging and how easy they are to find in my makeup drawer among my other lip products.

#7. Maybelline Dr. Rescue Top Coat

I purchased this top coat a few months ago when I discovered my previous one had dried up. Rachael (Helpless Whilst Drying) loved this and I knew it had to be good if a nail polish lover like herself was a fan! I find the size of this so dinky and cute and the fact it looks pink but applies clear strangely appealing. This top coat is supposed to give your nails a gel-like effect and I’ve never had a gel manicure but this makes my nails look super pretty and shiny. It also wears really well. I’ve noticed that when I wear this, my nail polish lasts for a week or more without chips.

#8. Nivea Pearly Shine

I have had this lip balm for a while now and I’m not going to throw it away until I’ve used all of it up and it becomes an empty. It has actually been a while since I’ve worn this but when I was thinking of products for this post, this was right at the top. This lip balm is nourishing and there’s been many a day I’ve worn this on it’s own. The colour is a sheer, frosted baby pink which is very flattering and natural for everyday wear.

#9. Rimmel 60 Seconds Colour Fest Nail Polishes

I own three polishes from this range and while I’m yet to try two of them, I’m crossing my fingers they’ll be just as amazing. I’ve got a few other Rimmel polishes as well and they are so pretty. I love painting my nails and I love Rimmel; the decision to include these polishes was a no brainer! The shade that prompted this inclusion is Bestival Blue. Since picking it up in June, I have been impressed with formulation and wear time. My nails are opaque in two coats and coupled with Maybelline’s top coat above, it almost looks like a professional manicure. I even had a few comments at work last week about my nails.

#10. Real Techniques Shading Brush

This little brush was purchased at the end of 2015 and it is one of my favourite and most used Real Techniques brushes. The size is perfect for my small eyes and I can do a whole eye look with this one brush. The bristles are incredibly soft and I especially love it for blending out the crease and packing shadow all over the lid. I have purchased the Starter Set for eyes since the design of Real Techniques brushes was updated slightly and the bristles aren’t as soft. I only really use two out of the five brushes. Upon reflection, I would have been better to buy another couple of shading brushes. If you have small eyes and you’re looking at the set, that might be something to consider.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and seeing my bargain beauty picks! Leave a comment with something that’s on your list!

Gigi Hadid Inspired Makeup

Gigi Hadid Inspired MakeupEver since sharing my Vanessa White Inspired Makeup look in March I have been on the hunt for another look I really admire and wanted to recreate. Gigi Hadid is everywhere lately and I can see why because she is gorgeous! When I picture Gigi, I think of a natural look, glowy, bronzed skin and either a bright red lip or a glossy nude lip – I will be focusing on the latter. I hope you enjoy this post!

The Menu

Gigi Hadid Makeup

Face Title

1. Simple Radiance Brightening Moisturiser SPF 10 – I spotted this for $3 last week and I actually used it for the first time in this look. With words like radiance and brightening in the name it sounded perfect. This moisturiser contains an SPF which is good if your foundation doesn’t and also contains mango extract which is supposed to help make the skin look even more glowing and bright.

2. Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer – This primer helps make my skin feel smoother before applying foundation. As this is clear I like to apply this and let it sit on my skin for a few minutes while I fill in my eyebrows so I can make sure it’s soaked in properly.

3. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel – I have been using this eyebrow pencil since I bought it in March and it makes filling in my eyebrows so quick and simple. I like a natural look so they don’t need much filling in.

4. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – 010 Light Porcelain – I want a flawless, glowy base and this foundation is the best to achieve that. It adds a lovely dewiness to the skin, particularly the cheeks which will accentuate my highlighter and make that stand out even more.

5. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair – I LOVE this concealer! This doesn’t crease or make my skin look cakey and I’m going to go as far to say I prefer this to Maybelline’s Fit Me. The coverage is fuller than Maybelline’s which adds to the flawlessness and means you don’t have to use a lot to achieve decent coverage.

6. The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01 Light Matte – Gigi’s skin always looks beautifully bronzed so I couldn’t skip this step. I applied bronzer in a ‘3’ motion to my forehead, cheeks and jawline.

7. I ♡ Makeup Goddess of Love Highlighter – I wanted to keep this look as naturally glowy as possible so I decided not to use a blush and just apply this highlighter. I dusted the highlight on the tops of my cheekbones and applied a small amount down the centre of my nose and to my chin.

Eyes Title

1. Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Eyeshadow Palette – I took the cream shade (top row, third from the left) and applied it as a base shadow all over my lids.

2. Max Factor Excess Shimmer – 20 Copper – I use this little eyeshadow pot all the time and one of my favourite ways to wear it is layered over top of other eyeshadows. I applied it over the cream shade to really make the eyes and shimmer stand out.

3. Rimmel Glam’Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara – I recently cracked open this mascara and I must say, so far so good! I’ve never used a two step mascara system before and I’m still in the process of figuring out how this mascara wears best on me but I like it. The lengthening mascara wand is small and short, perfect for bottom lashes.

Lips Title

1. Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Afternoon Tea – This shade is a lovely, sweet pink and is my favourite of the Tanya Burr glosses I picked up because of it’s versatility. The light pink helps bring everything together and tie it all in.

The Beauty Blogger Tag 2

The Beauty Blogger Tag 2A couple of weeks ago I was nominated for this award by Dannii from A Beautiful Thing. I am ever so grateful to be nominated and to Dannii for thinking of me. Make sure you go over and follow Dannii if you’re not already because she is super lovely!

The Rules:

  • Tag the blogger that nominated you.
  • Answer the questions you were given.
  • Nominate 5-10 bloggers whose blog is about beauty/lifestyle/fashion.
  • Write 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

Dannii’s Questions:

1. What is your favourite nail polish at the moment? (Brand and shade).

I like to paint my nails regularly but I haven’t done so for a week or two now. I will go with Bubblebath by OPI as I have worn that a lot lately.

2. What is your favourite eyeshadow palette?

‘The Nudes’ by Maybelline.

3. If you could only use three makeup items, what would they be?

Concealer, mascara and lipstick.

4. What makeup or beauty release are you most excited about?

I don’t think I’ve been excited for anything since MAC announced their collaboration with Ellie Goulding. New Zealand doesn’t end up getting lots of beauty releases or gets them after everyone else.

5. Your favourite YouTuber?

I have two: Lily Pebbles and Marcus Butler.

6. Where in the world would you like to live, if you could choose anywhere?

I say this so much, England! If I couldn’t live in England, I would happily stay in New Zealand though, it’s pretty cool!

7. What are you most looking forward to this month? (Can be a holiday, beauty, anything).

The shortest day of the year because it’s a work day 😛 I am also excited about my first blog giveaway which launched last week. I had been planning one for a while and it seemed right to doing one to celebrate two years of blogging.

8. What beauty products have you recently found disappointing?

  • Garnier Micellar Water – I loved this when I first got it but I have always been on the fence ever since. It removes makeup fine but I don’t find it the most beneficial for my skin. Maybe that’s down to the six month expiry, I’ve had my bottle for more than a year and am just over half way through. I’m convinced the other bloggers who use up one of these every few months drink it.
  • Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash – I got this back in January and have only used it a handful of times. I found it didn’t do much for my skin and I just don’t reach for this product. Unfortunately, I think this will be going in the bin.

9. Favourite song at the moment?

Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop the Feeling. This song is so happy and full of good vibes. It makes me want to smile and dance around.

10. What one beauty or makeup item would you recommend?

Max Factor’s Excess Shimmer eyeshadow pot in the shade Copper. I have not stopped using this since I purchased it and it is a shade which I think will suit almost everybody. It’s not too shimmery for an everyday eye look and it’s so easy to wear. Normally I swipe this across my eyelids with my ring finger and I’m done. It also looks nice layered over top of brown/taupe eyeshadows (particularly from ‘The Nudes’ by Maybelline) to create a more intense look.

I know the rules say to nominate 5-10 bloggers but I’m going to be lazy and leave this tag open to anyone who would like to do it or anyone who hasn’t done it before. I’d like you to answer the same questions I did and be sure to leave me a comment if you do this tag!

GRWM: One Year Work Anniversary!

GRWM One Year AnniversaryLast Wednesday, (May 4th to be exact!) it was a whole year since I started my job and because it was such a milestone I wanted to celebrate by wearing a mix of my old and current makeup favourites. I remember I did a FOTD post about the makeup I wore on my first day of work and it’s crazy to think how far I’ve come since then, work-wise and makeup-wise. Originally, the job was only for two months but I was asked if I wanted to stay on and of course I said yes! I have learnt so much in the past twelve months and everyday I’m still thankful to have been given a chance.

What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?

What's In My Travel Makeup BagHi everyone, hope you had a lovely weekend! Mum and I left on Thursday morning to go away for a few days as part of a late birthday present and I haven’t had time to read and catch up with everyone’s posts. I apologise for not being as active comment-wise as I usually am.

Getting away and having a break is something I rarely do and it was nice to not worry about where I’d end up or having to be on a time schedule. I thought carefully about my makeup and which products I wanted to take. I didn’t want to take more than I needed and end up not using them. I packed most of my staple products as I know they’re products I love and use a lot.

Face TitleTravel Makeup - Face

1. Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser: I have spoken many times about how I’ve used Simple moisturiser for years. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right?

2. Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige: I have had this foundation for nearly a month now and I love it! It doesn’t have a pump but a little nib the product comes out of. So far I haven’t had any spills and it doesn’t get messy. I also thought plastic would be easier to travel with than a glass bottle.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15 Fair: This concealer works so well with the Max Factor foundation and I really only need the tiniest bit for redness and spots. The moisturiser and foundation does most of the work and this concealer enhances that.

4. Dainty Doll Cream Blush 003 Billion Dollar Babies: This blush literally arrived the day before I left. I knew I wanted to take it and try it out and my first impressions are all good. This is the first cream blush I’ve tried and it helps add an extra bit of dewiness to my cheeks. This blush is described as a nude/bronze shade but doesn’t make the cheeks look muddy. The shade is very neutral and natural.

5. The Body Shop Honey Bronzer 01 Light Matte: I took bronzer in case I wanted to wear it or my skin was looking a little lacklustre. I didn’t actually end up wearing it any of the days I was away but it was there if I needed it.

Eyes TitleTravel Makeup - Eyes1. Maybelline ‘The Nudes’: This eyeshadow palette is my favourite to use and is very versatile! You can create simple looks to go with a bold lip or bold eyes to go with a nude lip. There’s a mix of shimmer and matte shades and they all work so well with each other.

2. Rimmel Supercurler Mascara: This mascara is very similar to my other favourite from Rimmel – ScandalEyes Lycra Flex. I took this for the simple fact my other Rimmel is very close to empty and I didn’t want to run out! This mascara holds a lovely curl, lasts all day and is easy to remove.

Lips TitleTravel Makeup - LipsLips are my favourite part of my makeup routine so I wanted to make sure I had options. I took four shades in total: two nudes and two bright, bold colours.

1. MAC – Blankety: I wore Blankety on day one as I went for a smokey, grey/silver eye (I didn’t use Maybelline’s ‘The Nudes’) and wanted to keep the rest of my face fresh and natural.

2. Revlon Lip Butter – Wild Watermelon: On day two, mum and I went to a casino and I wanted to make an impression so a bold lip was the way to go! I wore a monochrome outfit and the coral/red bought everything together.

3. BYS – Fuschia Surprise: Of course I had to take my favourite lipstick with me! I always love how this shade looks on me and I wear it with so many looks and outfits. On day three I teamed it with a black blouse and blue jeans.

4. MAC – Patisserie: I wore Patisserie on the last day away and teamed the lovely pinky tones with a gold, sparkly eye.

So, that’s everything I took with me! I hope you enjoyed seeing the products in my travel makeup bag! What’s in yours?

Empty Products #1

Empty Products #1Hi there, happy Friday! Today I’m very excited to bring you my first ever empties post! I will try and make this a regular feature on the blog but I don’t know how frequent the posts will be. I don’t find I go through products that quickly so I’ll probably end up keeping a little bin or a stash. Let’s jump straight in?!

1. Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser

I have used Simple moisturiser for years and I absolutely love it. My skin can be sensitive and never has this irritated it. The moisturiser does everything it says on the bottle and is so affordable.  There is no artificial scent or colour and the light texture is perfect for the face because it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and is good to use as a base before applying foundation. I imagine this would also be good for other areas on the body with sensitive/dry skin.

Repurchase: Yes, in fact I already have.

2. Impulse Into Glamour Body Spray

I first bought this body spray after The Saturdays became brand ambassadors for Impulse and it was one of the new scents launched in conjunction. I have used this product for a number of years as well and always repurchase whenever I run out. The scent is feminine and slightly floral and features a blend of sandalwood and vanilla. They’ve recently changed the size of the cans and although there is less product, it is more handbag friendly.

Repurchase: Always.

3. The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Hand Cream

I purchased this hand cream in August and it lasted me about two months. I really do think it made my nails stronger, they weren’t weak but they seemed to look and feel more nourished. When I first started using this hand cream I found the scent rather sweet but after a few days I got used to it and grew to like it. I like to apply hand cream before I go to bed so it has plenty of time to soak in during the night.

Repurchase: I think I will go back to this scent but I have a few others I’d like to try first.

4. The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

I have been saving this empty up after finishing it a few months ago, partly because I thought the tub was cute and it might come in useful for something. I really like the shea scent because it’s feminine but relatively neutral and doesn’t interfere with perfume or anything like that. Some people question The Body Shop’s prices but I think once you work it out, they’re reasonable as the products last a good few months and the quality is so good.

Repurchase: Like the hand cream, I have a list of other scents I’d also like to try.

5. Rimmel ScandalEyes Lycra Flex Mascara

I’ve certainly saved the best till last! Technically this mascara isn’t an empty yet, but it’s pretty damn near. I didn’t realise how much I loved this mascara and what it does for my lashes until I tried others and didn’t like the effect as much. I think this may just be my ‘holy grail’ mascara, the volume and length it gives my lashes is amazing. This mascara really opens up my eyes and holds a decent curl throughout the day while still making my lashes look fluttery. This must be the easiest waterproof mascara to remove which is always a bonus.

Repurchase: Definitely!

There you have it, my first empties post done and dusted. All five of these products come highly recommended and I’d love to know if you’ve tried them yourself or if you’d like to!

June Favourites

June FavouritesAnother month of 2015 down and now less than six months until Christmas! For me, June was all about the iPhone – I used to be one of those people who hated using their phone but now I love it! Beauty wise I didn’t spend a lot of money on new products but I do have a few beauty bits to include.

I apologise for the slightly late post this month but here are my June favourites:

1. iPhone – I posted about getting my phone here and it was one of my favourite posts to write and share this month. I absolutely adore the phone and everything about it. The camera is such good quality and I don’t find the battery life too bad, I have my brightness on zero most of the time as my phone is in my bag at work and only turn it up when I need to. I haven’t found a case yet so I’m still on the hunt.

2. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – You might have seen my ‘Mini Beauty Haul‘ featuring this cleansing water and the Rimmel nail polish Breakfast In Bed. This cleansing water lives up to all of its promises and value for money wise, it can’t be beaten. I was tempted by Simple’s Micellar Water but when I took into consideration I get double the amount for $1 more, my mind was made up – Garnier it was! In the beauty haul post I mentioned I had to rub a little more vigorously to remove my mascara but upon reflection I only notice that when I wear my Rimmel Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex mascara.

3. Rimmel Nail Polish #873 Breakfast In Bed – I think I fall more in love with this nail polish everyday! The colour is just so beautiful and is a wearable shade all year round – it’s pastel enough for spring/summer and cool enough to pull off in winter as well. I’ve had this colour on for over half of June and I can tell this polish will be getting a lot of wear.

4. Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser – I’ve had this moisturiser for a couple of months now and I feel within the past four weeks I’ve gotten into a little skincare routine that’s working well. Before this I was using Simple’s Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser and while that one was good as well, I feel the Hydrating moisturiser keeps my skin more nourished and does more for my skin. I’ve been applying the moisturiser twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening. It has really helped my skin not to dry out in the cooler weather and harsh winds.

5. Candy Crush Soda – It was my mum who actually got me addicted to this game. She got a new phone recently too and loves to spend her free time playing away! I used to play the normal Candy Crush on Facebook but now that one doesn’t seem as exciting as Candy Crush Soda. (I’m currently on Level 45).

6. Years & Years – King – I have been hearing this song a lot on the radio at work and I really like it. I love a good beat!

That’s all for this month, be sure to let me know what you’ve been loving!
