Christmas Makeup

christmas-makeup

Hey everyone! We are now less than a week away from Christmas! I enjoy seeing how people plan to do their makeup on Christmas Day and I wanted to share the look I’ve opted for this year. If you’re stuck for inspiration and not sure what to go for, I hope this post is of some use to you!

Last year, I went down the traditional route of a red lip and a sparkly eye. This year I am keeping my eyes sparkly and going for gold (literally). I have also gone for a gorgeous plum/berry lip colour, à la MAC Syrup. I was applying the shade one afternoon and the idea popped into my head to use it as my Christmas lip colour this year.

PRODUCTS:

Face Title1. Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser – You know how much I love Simple moisturiser. I have realised I actually prefer this to the Light Hydrating version.

2. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel – I have been using this exact pencil to fill in my eyebrows since March and I’m still lovin’ it!

3. The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – I love this product for spritzing on my face before applying foundation. It gives my skin an extra boost of moisture and makes everything look more flawless.

4. Max Factor Lasting Finish Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – I went for this over my trusty Rimmel as I wanted more of a matte look and this foundation lasts really well throughout the day.

5. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair – Again, you know I’m a huge fan of this! It’s creamy, high coverage and moistursing – enough said.

6. Rimmel Match Perfection Translucent Powder – This helps stop any excess oil and takes away any leftover shine after applying foundation.

7. Dainty Doll Cream Blush in 003 Billion Dollar Babies – This blush is very subtle but that’s why I love it. It gives the most natural colour to the cheeks and there’s not a look this shade doesn’t go with.

Eyes Title1. Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette – A light wash of the gold shade in the second row of the palette is applied as a base.

2. Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 – The second shade from the left is applied over the top of the Maybelline shade to add extra sparkle.

3. Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara – One coat of lengthening mascara is applied to the top and bottom lashes before a coat of volumising mascara is applied to the top lashes.

Lips Title1. Revlon – Sugar Plum – This shade may not scream Christmas at first glance but it’s plum/berry tones make it the perfect accompaniment. It’s bold enough to make a statement but not too bold that you will notice when it starts to fade. It’s smooth formula will make reapplication a breeze if necessary.

Spring Makeup | Collaboration with Drifting Lexi

spring-makeup

Back in April, Lauren from Drifting Lexi and I did a Spring/Autumn makeup collaboration. We each came up with a look to represent the season we were going into as we live on opposite sides of the world! Six months later, and it’s time for a role reversal – it’s my turn to showcase a Spring inspired look. I wanted it to be bright and fresh and I definitely achieved that!

Note: This look also doubled as the makeup I wore to Ellie Goulding’s concert at the weekend.

Products Used:

spring-makeup-products

As usual, I began by applying my trusty Simple moisturiser.

  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel
  • Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – This foundation gives skin a lovely, natural appearance whilst still making the skin look flawless. This is due to the medium-high coverage of the foundation. (I also used this foundation because it is more travel friendly than Rimmel’s Match Perfection which comes in a glass bottle).
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair
  • Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barely Branded – I applied this shade as a base to my eyelids, making it easier for eyeshadow to stick to.
  • Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette – I patted the gold shade all over my lids on top of Barely Branded.
  • Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara – I applied one coat of lengthening mascara before going in with one coat of volume mascara a couple of minutes later.
  • Dainty Doll Powder Blush 004 You Are My Sunshine – The flecks of gold in this blush make it perfect to highlight my cheekbones. It also teams so well with the gold eye look.
  • MAC Without Your Love – This lipstick is a beautiful pop of light pink and I love wearing this shade with the eye look above. Without Your Love brings the look together and makes everything look fresh and bright!
  • Rimmel Oh My Gloss! #150 Glossaholic – Without Your Love is quite a pale shade and I find adding a lick of gloss over it tops everything off nicely and completes the look.

Date Night OOTD & Makeup

Date Night OOTD & Makeup

Happy Wednesday, it’s the middle of another week already! I was in two minds about whether I should (is should the right word?) share this post or not but I’ve decided to. I’ve always been open about the fact that I haven’t been in a relationship before or had a lot to do with the opposite sex but a few weeks ago I went out to dinner on a date. To cut a long story short, I never heard from the guy after that. Despite this, I really enjoyed putting this look together and I wanted to share what I wore in case you’re in a similar situation or just need some inspiration.

The Outfit

Date Night Outfit1. Cotton On Archy Crop Pullover

I knew it might get a bit chilly so I wanted to make sure I was warm whilst still looking nice. I went for a casual/semi-formal look and I rolled up the sleeves of this pullover to make things a bit more cute and playful. The colour broke up the black of the rest of the outfit.

2. Cotton On 3/4 Sleeve Boat Neck

Underneath the pullover I opted for a simple black 3/4 sleeve top. These sorts of tops are so versatile and perfect for layering.

3. Dannii For Target Coated Leggings

I absolutely love these leggings for their comfort and the way they look! These are more glam than your usual pair of plain black leggings and the coated animal print also adds a bit of personality and playfulness.

4. Forever New Scarlett Quilted Bag

I picked up this bag when I was in Auckland with dates and evenings out in mind. It is the perfect size and can hold a decent amount. For example, on my date I had my phone, keys, cards, ID, various other bits and there was still room to spare.

5. Diana Ferrari Onix Suede Boots

It was a chilly evening and I’m glad I opted for boots. These look so cute with the leggings tucked in and I do love the sound of the slight heel against the pavement as I walk.

Date Night Outfit

The Face

Date Night MakeupI started with my trusty Simple moisturiser as usual. All other products are listed in order of application:

1. Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer

2. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel

3. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain

4. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair

5. Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ – (Shades 3 and 7)*

6. Max Factor Excess Shimmer in Copper

7. Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara – (Two coats of the volume mascara)

8. Goddess of Love Highlighter

9. MAC Syrup – (I wanted to make an impact but not go over the top with a bold lip)

*Both shades were applied all over the lid before going in with Max Factor’s Excess Shimmer in Copper for added sparkle!

Day To Night Makeup

Day and Night MakeupHi lovelies! 99.9% of the time I apply my makeup for the day and that’s it. Last Friday though, there was a work dinner and I knew I wouldn’t have time to do my whole face again so I had to be crafty with my makeup. I think my makeup transitioned really well and everything worked out exactly how I wanted it to.

Friday’s Face

Day and Night Makeup ProductsDay Products:

  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – 15 Fair
  • Max Factor Lasting Performance – 101 Ivory Biege
  • Australis Concealer Stick – Light
  • The Body Shop Honey Bronzer – 01 Light Matte
  • Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette (I applied the first three shades of the top row all over my lids).
  • Rimmel ScandalEyes Lycra Flex Mascara – Black
  • Dainty Doll Powder Blush 004 – You Are My Sunshine
  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil – Hazel
  • Rimmel Oh My Gloss! – #150 Glossaholic

Night Products:

  • Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette (The second shade from the left on the bottom row was applied all over the lids to darken things up).
  • Max Factor Excess Shimmer – 20 Copper
  • Rimmel ScandalEyes Lycra Flex Mascara – Black
  • Dainty Doll Wonderbalm
  • MAC – All Fired Up

Max Factor’s Excess Shimmer eyeshadow really helped brighten and illuminate my eyes and the third coat of mascara really took the look from day to night. It made my eyes stand out and look more dramatic. My eyes still looked quite natural which is why I decided to make a statement with a bold lip!

Let me know how you take your makeup from day to night and if you have a preference, which you prefer!

Valentine’s Day Makeup Menu

Valentine's Day Makeup MenuHappy Monday beautiful people! With less than six days to go until Valentine’s Day I wanted to share a makeup menu I have created based around a few keywords: cute, girly and flirty. The inspiration comes from the lipstick used in this look and my love for the colour pink. Soft, feminine pinks are a change from the traditional colour of red associated with love.

It doesn’t matter if you’ll be celebrating with someone special or on your own, this look is appropriate for day and night – it shows you’ve put effort into your makeup and would be a really cute look for a daytime date. Of course if you still want to go all out to impress someone, by all means do!Face TitleValentine's Face

1. Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser –  Before applying my moisturiser I sprayed a couple of sprays of my Vitamin E Face Mist (not pictured) just to cool down my skin as it’s summer here and it’s hot and to provide an extra bit of hydration. The face mist helped my moisturiser go on smoothly and keep my skin more nourished.

2. Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – This foundation makes my makeup routine so quick. I squeeze a little strip onto the back of my hand and dab the product onto my face before blending it in with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. The foundation blends in easily and doesn’t apply patchy or leave brush marks.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ’15 Fair’ – I have told you with how much I like this product numerous times so I will keep it short. It conceals, it covers redness and spots and has never broken me out. An all round winner!

4. The Body Shop Honey Bronzer ’01 Light Matte’ – This bronzer has completely changed the way I do my face. Before I started using this product I felt sometimes my face looked a little flat. This helps to add a hint of colour to my cheeks and it is extremely difficult to go overboard with, which when you’re a pale girl is a godsend! I lightly dust this bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks, over my forehead, chin and jawline using my Real Techniques Blush Brush. This brush is so fluffy and light and applies the product beautifully.

5. Dainty Doll Powder Blush in 002 My Girl – This is one of the first opportunities I have had to wear this blush properly and it doesn’t disappoint! The colour in the pan looks quite light but once applied to the cheeks, it is pretty pigmented. The beauty with Dainty Doll blushes is a little goes a long way and they can be applied more heavy handed if you’d like. My Girl is the perfect soft pink for any girly look.Eyes TitleValentine's Eyes1. Shiseido Accentuating Eyeshadow in Ruby Dazzle – This eyeshadow belongs to my mum and originally I was going to go for a purple look on my eyes but when I swatched this colour I knew it was the one. The colour looks bright in the pan and it does translate on the eye but it’s such a gorgeous, pinky-red that it works and doesn’t look scary.

2. Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ Mascara – I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve used this mascara as it is such a pain to remove but when I think of flirty, I think of long, dark, fluttery lashes. The brush on this mascara really allows me to get into each lash and wiggle the brush to get that fuller effect.Lips TitleValentine's Lips1. Dainty Doll Lipstick 004 Material World – This is the makeup product the whole look was centered around. This lipstick is described as a lilac pink and the light colour doesn’t wash me out, in fact it adds a nice warmth to my face. The lipstick is lovely and moisturising and when I think of girly, this is the type of shade that springs to mind. A firm favourite in my collection!

End ResultValentine's MakeupClockwise – Left To Right: The finished look, a close-up of my eyes and swatches.

Be sure to let me know what you think of this look! Hopefully it will help and inspire some of you if you’re stuck this Valentine’s Day! 💗

OOTD & FOTD: 21st Edition

OOTD 21st EditionHello beautiful people! How was your weekend?

I had a friend’s 21st on Saturday and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do a wee outfit of the day and face of the day post for you all! Initially I was worried about the party, I didn’t know what to expect or who was going to be there but I ended up having a good time. Dancing for three and a half hours is great exercise!

What I Wore (Outfit):

OOTDJacket: Postie – This is a long sleeved lightweight waterfall style jacket. I didn’t want to wear anything too heavy but I still wanted to be warm. The metal jewels down the sleeves bought a little bit of bling to my outfit!

Top: Kmart – I picked this top up for $10 at the beginning of the year and it really does look good with anything, casual, or more dressy on this occasion. The stripes helped to break up the black of the rest of my outfit and introduce a bit of pattern and playfulness.

Skirt: Pagani – This skirt is absolutely beautiful and so comfortable to wear – it feels like I haven’t got anything on! The material is soft and stretchy and cut in a bandage style which adds texture and doesn’t make it look like a plain black skirt or a skirt you’d wear to work.

I paired all of this with a pair of stockings and my Diana Ferrari Onix Slouch Boots. They are super comfortable and allow me to dance all night without getting sore feet.

Diana Ferrari BootsWhat I Wore (Makeup):

21st MakeupBase:

Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 081 Fair Ivory

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ’15 Fair’

Eyes/Brows:

ChiChiChi Chi Billion Dollar Palette ‘Heiress’ – I used the white as a primer all over the lid before sweeping over the grey shadow and patting on the shimmery silver.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Lycra Flex Mascara in Black

Profusion Eyebrow Pencil in Brown – I don’t normally do anything to my brows but I had this pencil lying around and decided to try it out last weekend. I kept things pretty subtle on Saturday and thought it turned out well considering it was only my second attempt.

Cheeks:

Dainty Doll Blush 004 You Are My Sunshine

Lips:

BYS Lipstick ‘Fuchsia Surprise’

21st Makeup SelfieAll made up and ready to par-tay!

I wore my hair down and curled it and was very happy with the way it (and the rest of my look) turned out! Apologies about the quality of the photo, it was almost sunset and natural light was disappearing fast.

This post was so much fun to write and I hope you enjoyed reading it! Be sure to let me know what you think of my look and if you have a go to party look of your own, why not share it in the comments.

FOTD: First Day At Work + New Job

Hi everyone!

I’ve got some very exciting news to report – I’ve got a job! After more than a year and over 50 applications I have been lucky enough to be given a chance. I’m working in a pharmacy five days a week (Monday to Friday) for roughly five hours a day. At this stage the job is fixed term for two months but it’s still good experience and something to add to my CV.

I don’t think working should affect blogging too much, I’ll still be using the weekend to write upcoming content and trying to post three times a week.

Seeing as today was my first day at work I thought I’d do a FOTD post. I haven’t done one of these in a while and it might give you inspiration for your work makeup!

FOTD MakeupProducts used and featured above:

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Fix & Perfect Primer

This primer combined with my Rimmel foundation is a match made in heaven. I use about the size of a pea and dab it onto my face before massaging it in with fast, fluid motions. When I wear primer I find my makeup does hold better.

2. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 081 Fair Ivory

I am in LOVE with this foundation! I think the colour matches my skin tone extremely well and it does seem to give a traceless coverage as it says on the bottle. The foundation is very light on my skin and doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my face.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – 15 Fair

I took a wee risk using this for the first time today but luckily it paid off. This shade is a really good match for my skin and the product feels light and airy while also providing coverage. The doe foot applicator is easy to use and I simply blend the concealer in with my finger.

4. Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Professional Powder – Light

This versatile compact can be used as a blusher, bronzer, eye shadow, face framer, contour and lip colour. I use this over my face after I’ve applied my concealer and foundation to give my skin a healthy glow.

5. Chi Chi Billion Dollar Wallet Heiress Palette

I used a white shade as a primer all over my lid and a black glittery shade to blend with the white and create a subtle smoky eye. This helps to give my eyes slightly more definition.

6. Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara

This is a great day time mascara as it coats your lashes well and it allows you to apply as much as you want to get the desired effect. The brush is quite small which makes it easy to get into each individual lash. The mascara doesn’t clump or smudge and stays put all day which is good for work.

7. MAC Syrup

Syrup is the perfect everyday lipstick and it’s such an easy colour to wear. It’s a lustre finish so won’t dry out your lips. I have been reaching for this colour pretty much everyday since I bought it a week and a half ago.

Of course, no FOTD post is complete without showing you the finished look!

FOTD: Job Interview Makeup

FOTD 03 MarchHi loves! Hope you’re doing well!

I had my first job interview in a while today and after the success of my Valentine’s Day FOTD post last month I wanted to share today’s look with you. I went for a simple, minimalist approach while still making sure I looked like I made an effort.

Products used and featured in the image above:

  • Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer in 001
  • Australis Matte Mousse – Buff Beige
  • Concealer Stick – Light (this is my trusty old concealer where the brand name has rubbed off)
  • Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Professional Powder – Light
  • Rimmel ScandalEyes Lycra Flex Mascara – Black
  • Dainty Doll Lipstick – 004 Material World

I also applied some of Dainty Doll’s Wonderbalm to my cheeks to give them a healthy glow and near my brow bone as a highlight. I didn’t wear any eyeshadow today so this was to brighten and lift my eyes. The Wonderbalm isn’t included in the picture above as I took the photo last night.

Final look

Ta-da!

The lipstick I wore today (Dainty Doll’s Material World) is a blue-toned pink and is one of those universal shades that can be worn all year round. You could wear this (or any similar shade) to work because it’s relatively neutral and adds a nice hint of colour to your lips. Ultra-feminine and practical at the same time!

What do you think of my workplace inspired look? Do you have a go to product or look of your own?

FOTD: Valentine’s Inspired Look

Seeing as tomorrow is Valentine’s Day I thought I’d experiment with my makeup a little bit and create a Valentine’s Day inspired look. Let’s dive straight in!

FOTDProducts I used (and the order I used them):

  • Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser – Today I opted for moisturiser over primer. Depending on my plans for the day or how long I’m going to be wearing make up I switch between the two.
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation – 100 Ivory
  • Australis Concealer Stick – Light
  • Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Professional Powder – Light
  • Chi Chi Billion Dollar Wallet – Heiress
  • Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara – Black
  • Dainty Doll Blush – 001 Hippy Shake
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – 720 Fire & Ice

Face in progressStages of make up application.

ChiChiShadows 1, 6 and 8 were used for today’s look and you can see a swatch of how they look blended in the picture of my wrist above. The white acts as a base, the shimmery pink adds sparkle and the burgundy adds colour while still keeping the look neutral.

imageThe finished look!

*Eyeliner would also work well with this look. I don’t wear eyeliner because of my glasses and the fact that I’m hopeless at applying it 😛

Be sure to let me know what you think of today’s look and if you’d like to see more posts like this!

Also, I hope all my gorgeous followers have a lovely day tomorrow!!! Whether you’re celebrating with someone or not, don’t forget to spread the love ❤
