Summer Makeup Menu – Just Peachy

summer-makeup-menu-just-peachy

Summer is in full swing in New Zealand! February is usually our hottest month and the past couple of days have been particularly balmy. I haven’t done a makeup menu in a little while and I wanted to do one to coincide with summer and the warm weather we’ve been having. Peaches and corals have been my inspiration for this look and I have a few makeup products which fit the brief perfectly. I hope you enjoy this post!

The Menu

Products listed in order of application:

1. Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser – This has been my go to moisturiser for a number of years and never lets me down.

2. Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 002 Hazel – This pencil is what I have been using to fill in my eyebrows for nearly a year now and there’s still plenty left!

3. The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – I spritz this on my face after applying foundation to give my skin an extra little bit of moisture.

4. Max Factor CC Cream – 40 Fair – I purchased this CC cream from eBay and have only started using it recently. The colour match is spot on and the product feels nice and light on the skin which is what you want in summer. You don’t want to feel like you’re wearing lots of makeup.

5. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair – This concealer has become my holy grail. The coverage it provides is outstanding for the price point and the product is creamy and moisturising.

6. The Body Shop Swinging Silver Eye Palette – This palette is one of the key products for this look. I simply applied the peach shade all over the lid.

7. Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara – I applied one coat of volumising mascara to my top and bottom lashes.

8. Dainty Doll Powder Blush in 004 You Are My Sunshine – This is the second of three products that inspired this peach look. This blush is hands down my favourite and is a great dupe for NARS’ Orgasm.

9. MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved – I don’t think I’ve matched a peach eyes with a peach lip before but when I think about peach lips, this shade is the epitome of peach. It’s the perfect mix of pink and orange and the shade is natural yet everyday appropriate.

Chanelle’s Note: I didn’t apply powder as I wanted this look to be dewy and glowy.

Valentine’s Day Makeup Menu

Valentine's Day Makeup MenuHappy Monday beautiful people! With less than six days to go until Valentine’s Day I wanted to share a makeup menu I have created based around a few keywords: cute, girly and flirty. The inspiration comes from the lipstick used in this look and my love for the colour pink. Soft, feminine pinks are a change from the traditional colour of red associated with love.

It doesn’t matter if you’ll be celebrating with someone special or on your own, this look is appropriate for day and night – it shows you’ve put effort into your makeup and would be a really cute look for a daytime date. Of course if you still want to go all out to impress someone, by all means do!Face TitleValentine's Face

1. Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser –  Before applying my moisturiser I sprayed a couple of sprays of my Vitamin E Face Mist (not pictured) just to cool down my skin as it’s summer here and it’s hot and to provide an extra bit of hydration. The face mist helped my moisturiser go on smoothly and keep my skin more nourished.

2. Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – This foundation makes my makeup routine so quick. I squeeze a little strip onto the back of my hand and dab the product onto my face before blending it in with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. The foundation blends in easily and doesn’t apply patchy or leave brush marks.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ’15 Fair’ – I have told you with how much I like this product numerous times so I will keep it short. It conceals, it covers redness and spots and has never broken me out. An all round winner!

4. The Body Shop Honey Bronzer ’01 Light Matte’ – This bronzer has completely changed the way I do my face. Before I started using this product I felt sometimes my face looked a little flat. This helps to add a hint of colour to my cheeks and it is extremely difficult to go overboard with, which when you’re a pale girl is a godsend! I lightly dust this bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks, over my forehead, chin and jawline using my Real Techniques Blush Brush. This brush is so fluffy and light and applies the product beautifully.

5. Dainty Doll Powder Blush in 002 My Girl – This is one of the first opportunities I have had to wear this blush properly and it doesn’t disappoint! The colour in the pan looks quite light but once applied to the cheeks, it is pretty pigmented. The beauty with Dainty Doll blushes is a little goes a long way and they can be applied more heavy handed if you’d like. My Girl is the perfect soft pink for any girly look.Eyes TitleValentine's Eyes1. Shiseido Accentuating Eyeshadow in Ruby Dazzle – This eyeshadow belongs to my mum and originally I was going to go for a purple look on my eyes but when I swatched this colour I knew it was the one. The colour looks bright in the pan and it does translate on the eye but it’s such a gorgeous, pinky-red that it works and doesn’t look scary.

2. Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ Mascara – I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve used this mascara as it is such a pain to remove but when I think of flirty, I think of long, dark, fluttery lashes. The brush on this mascara really allows me to get into each lash and wiggle the brush to get that fuller effect.Lips TitleValentine's Lips1. Dainty Doll Lipstick 004 Material World – This is the makeup product the whole look was centered around. This lipstick is described as a lilac pink and the light colour doesn’t wash me out, in fact it adds a nice warmth to my face. The lipstick is lovely and moisturising and when I think of girly, this is the type of shade that springs to mind. A firm favourite in my collection!

End ResultValentine's MakeupClockwise – Left To Right: The finished look, a close-up of my eyes and swatches.

Be sure to let me know what you think of this look! Hopefully it will help and inspire some of you if you’re stuck this Valentine’s Day! 💗

Christmas Day Makeup Menu

Christmas Day Makeup MenuHey everyone! It feels a little weird doing a beauty post on a Wednesday but this has been one I’ve been excited to share with you for a couple of weeks. Whether you’re someone who has made last minute Christmas plans or you’re unsure how to do your makeup for the big day, sit back, relax and read on to see what I’ll be wearing come December 25th.

For my Christmas makeup I had two things in mind: sparkle and a red lip. I kept everything traditional and relatively simple. I believe this look would also suit a range of outfits from dressy to casual.

Base:

Christmas Makeup - BaseIf you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while now, you’ll know all about my base products for my face. I use these three every time I wear makeup and I’m always impressed.

1) Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser – This moisturiser gives such a lovely base for the foundation to adhere to and keeps my skin nice and soft throughout the day. I didn’t use a primer for this look but this moisturiser works well with or without one.

2) Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – If it’s more of a light coverage you’re after this foundation mixes really well with moisturiser and gives you that tinted moisturiser look and feel. On this occasion I applied the two separately as I wanted slightly more coverage. Side note: I recently discovered Rimmel have re-branded their Match Perfection foundation (I have the old formula). I use the shade 081 Fair Ivory and I hope that’s still part of the range otherwise I’ll have to try 010 Light Porcelain or find a completely new foundation.

3) Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in ’15 Fair’ – I don’t use the wand to apply this concealer, I dab the product onto my finger and pat it into my skin. Normally I just apply it to my chin, the sides of my nose and the corners of my eyes to eliminate redness.

Eyes:

Christmas Makeup - Eyes

1) Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette – I have used this eyeshadow palette so much since I purchased it and it is one of my favourite purchases of the year! I used the palest, whitest shade in the palette as a base all over the lid then applied the gold shade over top of that.

Christmas Eye Makeup

2) Rimmel Super Curler Mascara – I recently mentioned purchasing this mascara in my HUGE Me Spree post. The mascara wand is smaller than what I’m used to using with Rimmel’s ScandalEyes Lycra Flex and shaped to mimic the natural curl of eyelashes. The size of the wand doesn’t detract from the mascara by any means and I do find this mascara does a similar job to the Lycra Flex; it adds a nice voluminous, fluttery look to my lashes.

Lips:

Christmas Makeup - Lips

1) Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 107 – I have come to the conclusion I don’t wear this lipstick enough. It featured in my Winter Essentials due it’s dark, berry tones which look especially gorgeous in Autumn/Winter. This shade screamed FESTIVE to me so it was the obvious choice when it came to choosing a lip colour for my Christmas look.

Christmas MakeupI hope you enjoyed this post and seeing what makeup I’ll be wearing on Friday! Let me know what you think of my Christmas look and if this post has inspired you at all. Also, don’t forget to tell me what makeup you’ll be rocking!
