Inside My Overnight Bag

Every week I spend a few nights with my boyfriend and I have an overnight bag full of girly essentials. I leave the products in the bag so I’m not unpacking all the time and forget something when I re-pack.

I purchased the bag from Forever New in August 2016 and it is the perfect size to house all the products. The base is flat which allows products to stand up if I need them to and I love the shiny, silver material on the outside.

Onto the contents:

  • Medication (not pictured): I take certain medications in the morning and vitamins in the evening. I unpack these each time as they need to be replenished frequently.
  • Toiletries: I keep a toothbrush and OGX shampoo and conditioner minis at my boyfriends. I take my trusty Nivea ‘no white marks’ deodorant as this lasts well throughout the day and I don’t tire of the scent.
  • Moisturisers: Even when I’m at home I have a day moisturiser and a night moisturiser. I have travel size moisturisers by Simple (Radiance Brightening Moisturiser) and MAC (Studio Moisture Cream). Small sizes are convenient and last surprisingly long when they are only used a couple of times a week. I keep a 50ml tub of The Body Shop’s Shea body butter with me to pop on after showering as well as a tube of hand cream also from The Body Shop. Currently it’s Almond Milk & Honey.
  • Beauty/makeup: A black elastic headband ensures my hair doesn’t kink and keeps my fringe out of my eyes when I wash my face/moisturise. I am trying to use up the last of my Pearly Shine lip balm from Nivea which featured in 2016’s Project Pan! I normally wear this during the day and no other makeup. On the rare occasion I do take makeup I keep it simple: concealer, mascara, a single eyeshadow and a lip product.
  • Haircare: I wear my hair down most days but I opt for my black velvet scrunchie (not pictured) if I want to tie it up. I have a Tangle Teezer in Candy Cane for my hair. The Tangle Teezer is compact but takes practice if you’re trying to tie up hair, it’s not as effective as a hairbrush when styling a ponytail.
  • Fragrance: I always spritz body spray over myself and my clothes before applying my main perfume. My latest favourite is Impulse Tease (not pictured) which combines red fruits and woods. I tend to switch between two perfumes – my Viva la Juicy atomiser or The Body Shop’s Strawberry EDT which I have been reaching for more lately over Viva la Juicy. The bottle is small and compact and fits perfectly in my overnight bag as well as my handbag.

What would you include in your overnight bag?

Project Pan Week 1: Nivea Pearly Shine

project-pan-week-1

Welcome to the first post of this Project Pan Collaboration! If you aren’t aware what Project Pan is about, CLICK HERE to find out. My fellow collaborators, Stash Matters, A Brash Attitude and Curly Spring Blossom, started last week so make sure you check out their posts if you haven’t already! One of the reasons I wanted to start a week later, apart from not being ready, was so I could see how their posts are written and get inspiration for mine. (Sneaky I know!)

My first product is the Pearly Shine lip balm by Nivea. This is the only product from Nivea I have tried to date but doing this post has made me think I need to take more notice of Nivea and their products in future.

About

I selected Nivea’s Pearly Shine lip balm because I have always been super impressed with it and I haven’t shown it as much love recently as I used to. I have had this lip balm since 2013 and despite it’s age, it stills works as well now as it did when I first got it.

Pearly Shine describes this lip balm perfectly, it isn’t a sheer balm and makes the lips look nice and hydrated, not over the top shiny at all. I love wearing Pearly Shine if I’m having a no makeup day or want a subtle hint of pink. The formula is lovely and moisturising and lasts a good few hours on my lips.

From the website:

Do you want soft lips with a natural pearly shimmer? NIVEA Pearly Shine Lip Balm:

  • Beautifies your lips with a pearly shimmer leaving them irresistibly silky smooth
  • Provides intensive moisture to your lips, leaving them irresistibly soft
  • Includes Hydra IQ for deep moisturisation
How it works

With a kiss of rose and a pearly shimmer, NIVEA Lip Care Pearly Shine enhances the beauty of your lips. This new formula with precious pearl and silk extracts stores long lasting moisture while natural oils soften and condition your lips.

A creamy treat that makes your lips velvety soft and silky smooth for longer.

pros

  • Nourishing formula makes lips softer
  • Subtle pink sheen
  • Long lasting
  • Lovely scent
  • Contains SPF 10
  • Affordable

Cons

None. Nada. Zilch.

Chanelle’s rating: 10/10 – if a product has no cons you can’t really give it anything other than a perfect score!

The Remaining products – Progress

  1. The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream – Used 5x. Normally I apply hand cream every night before bed but hey, sometimes I forget.
  2. Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 101 Ivory Beige – Used only once unfortunately. I will make up for this in a couple of weeks as I’ll be traveling and taking this with me.
  3. Britney Spears Curious – In Control – Used 2x.
  4. Fudge Urban Miracle Ends Tropical Cocktail – Used 2x.
  5. The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – Used 1x. I’m sure once spring starts warming up I will reach for this more often.

  7. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair – Used 5x, every day I wore makeup.
  8. Rimmel Match Perfection Translucent Setting Powder – I was naughty and didn’t use this at all  😦

  10. Cutex Strengthening Nail Polish Remover – Used 1x. I tend to only do my nails once a week.

July Favourites

July FavouritesWell hello there! I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already! As promised I’m returning with my July Favourites. Most of these products were mentioned in my Weekend Haulin’ post so go and check that out if you haven’t already. July has been a month full of highs and lows (which you will hear about in future posts) and all about lip products. Lips are my favourite part of my makeup routine so I’ve included some new products I purchased as well as an old faithful. I also may or may not have purchased four of the Revlon lip butters on eBay last week… but more about those when they arrive!

Onto this month’s favourites:

1. Lili Price White Geometry Chaos Phone Case – I found this phone case after seeing Lily Pebbles post an image to Instagram of hers. I was really intrigued by the design and immediately fell in love with it! I liked the case more than any of the others I’d seen and because it’s black and white it goes with anything. The case itself is made of plastic but feels protective and sturdy. The great thing about Lili’s cases is that they’re available for a range of phones so even if you have an older model you might still be able to buy one of her cases. I was really impressed with the service I received, I didn’t pay much for postage at all and I received the case within a week! A+

2. Nivea Pearly Shine Lip Balm – I have used this product for over two years and it is one of my holy grail makeup items. If I want something that goes with everything or need a bit more moisture this is what I turn to. As the name suggests it leaves a lovely light pink shimmer on the lips and is really moisturising. It doesn’t cling to dry patches and wears well throughout the day. If I wear this to work I don’t need to reapply, which for a balm, is good going.

3. Britney Spears – Radiance – This perfume is definitely my favourite out of the ones I own and I have been reaching for it just about every day this month. The smell is just incredible and something about it seems to exude warmth. Radiance contains top notes of wild berries and soft, dewy petals, mixed with tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom and iris. Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the bottle is!

4. The Body Shop Strawberry Lip Butter – While I’ve only used this gem a handful of times, I have been impressed when I’ve worn it. The strawberry smell from this little pot is delicious and I’m pleased to report it sticks around when on the lips. I can see this being one of those ‘chuck it in your handbag’ type products, perfect if you’re on the go and your lips need a pick me up.

5. MAC Patisserie – I think it was pretty obvious this was going to make it into my July Favourites. I did tell you this month was all about lip products! Patisserie is such a flattering shade for me and my skin tone and is a little different to what I’d normally go for but I like it. The hint of terracotta/brown is lovely and adds warmth while still looking natural. The lipstick has little flecks of glitter in the bullet but they’re very subtle once on the lips. If you’re a fan of nude lips I’m sure you’d love Patisserie! Let me know if you’d like a full review of this lipstick!

6. kikki.K A5 Journal – I bought this journal with the intention of writing in it every day even if it’s a sentence or a few lines. I’m proud to say I have kept to this promise and I feel like expressing my feelings has been beneficial. I haven’t had as many worries on my mind before bed and I feel like I can let go if something’s been building up throughout the day. I love the freedom this journal brings with it, I can use it for whatever I like and in a few years I’ll be able to look back and reflect. The leather and elastic binding help keep everything together so if you insert notes or pictures they won’t get lost.

That’s all for this month, be sure to let me know what you’ve been loving!
