March Favourites + Highlights 2020

Literally on the first day of March I felt myself coming down with something. I had inflamed tonsils and a sore throat for most of the month and that resulted in two separate trips to the doctor and being prescribed two different antibiotics. I think I am finally on the mend now and getting back to ‘normal’.

I will be working from home over the coming weeks as New Zealand officially went into lockdown on March 26th for a minimum of four weeks. People are only supposed to leave home to pick up groceries, medication or if they are walking around the block for exercise. I hope everyone takes this period of self isolation seriously and thinks how their actions could impact others. It’s also important to be kind to yourself and find activities that make you feel good and keep you busy. If any of my blogging friends need a chat, I’m here.

Onto this month’s favourites:

1. Absent Melange Short Sleeve T-shirt Pink – The weather is starting to cool down now as autumn is properly underway but over the past few months I have loved wearing this t-shirt. I picked it up on Boxing Day for $10 and it’s such a good basic. It’s actually a men’s t-shirt and I also picked up one in blue. The blue is an Extra Small and the pink is a Small as there was no Extra Small left. Both fit really nicely – they’re straight cut which suits my body shape and don’t cling. The length is good and I like how the sleeves are a little longer too.

2. Viva la Juicy La Fleur – I purchased this perfume in August 2019 and over the past few weeks it’s the one I’ve found myself reaching for the most. As I have been sick most of March I wanted something light for the days I was able to go to work and this fits the bill. Viva la Juicy is a nice fruity floral with notes of mandarin, wild berries, honeysuckle, gardenia and jasmine with a creamy gourmand base. This is lighter and not as intense as the original VLJ if you’re curious about how it differs.

3. BECCA First Light Priming Filter – I got a 15ml deluxe sample of this in a BECCA travel set I purchased at the end of last year. This primer makes the skin lovely and dewy so if you have normal to oily skin or you like dewy foundations you’ll probably need a setting powder. I have used this primer several times throughout the month and I really enjoy it, the product feels lightweight yet hydrating on the skin. It soaks in quickly and all products sit on top of it nicely.

4. xoBeauty “The Heiress” False Lashes – I tried false lashes for the very first time this month and I wrote a post about my experience HERE. In February I purchased a couple of sets of lashes from xoBeauty and “The Heiress” lashes are the ones I was most excited to try! These lashes are medium length and give a beautiful curled, fluttery effect. The lashes look very natural on and feel incredibly lightweight. They were so easy to apply and I can’t wait to wear them again!

5. Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 10 Nude Mauve – This blush is one of those staple shades everyone needs in their makeup collection. If you have medium to dark skin tones this colour may not show up well but for fair to light skin tones it is the perfect everyday blush! Nude Mauve is a brown-pink mauve with subtle shimmer and it can also be used to sculpt and highlight the cheekbones if you feel like skipping contour and highlighter.

March Highlights

  • Early in the month I met up with a friend who’s also an ex work colleague. We caught up for food, had plenty of laughs and good conversation. She’s one of those people where I can be completely myself and I know she’s always got my back.
  • Before the country went into lockdown I placed a final order with Dominos as I won’t be able to have takeaway food for a while. I don’t buy a lot of takeaways or food when I’m out but I wanted to get in while I had the chance.

3 Ways To Wear a Denim Jacket

At the end of May I purchased this light wash denim jacket from Pagani. For my readers outside New Zealand, Pagani is comparable to River Island, Oasis and Miss Selfridge – high street fashion featuring the latest trends and styles at affordable prices. If I could describe my wardrobe it would be classic, comfortable and stylish (I try anyway). I have a lot of neutral pieces I can interchange but I also like colour.

Stylist notes:

  • Ten buttons
  • Silver hardware
  • Four front pockets
  • Relaxed, boxy fit
  • Cropped cut

The light wash is flattering against my  fair skin and I do like the boxy, cropped fit of this jacket, it looks more tailored. I do have to roll the sleeves up but they aren’t too long. A denim jacket is one of those pieces that goes with just about everything and can be worn year round – I’ve constantly been wearing mine since I bought it.

Outfit #1: Day Date

Jacket: Pagani
Top: Glassons – Grey Merino Blend Boxy Jumper
Pants: Glassons – Black Ponte Pants

This outfit is my favourite of the three. I’d had my hair done the previous day and felt extra nice in it. I wanted to be comfortable and warm on the date as it was still the end of winter. Side note about the date: I met a guy for lunch. He seemed nice but neither of us felt a connection so it didn’t go anywhere. The jacket isn’t bulky and allows for layering so it was perfect. I paired it with a lightweight grey jumper and black pants.

Outfit #2: Floral Dress

Jacket: Pagani
Dress: Glassons – Floral High-Low Dress

This outfit would work year round, just add some stockings and cute boots! If I’m brave enough I will wear this outfit in summer with bare legs and sandals. Legs are the body part I like least about myself and worry about the most. My legs look bigger than other parts of my body and they are very pale so I have to be careful they don’t burn. I don’t fake tan and whilst I’m not embarrassed about my pale skin I do tend to cover up.

Outfit #3: Casual and Comfy

Jacket: Pagani
Top: Glassons – Black Merino Curve Blend Hem Jumper
Pants: Glassons – Navy Seal Ponte Pants

Outfit one and three are similar but I feel they are reflective of my style. Ponte pants are like leggings but they are thicker, warmer and just as comfortable. Like leggings they are elasticated and can be dressed up or down. I love navy as an alternative to black and it means I can wear black on my top half without wearing black head to toe – there’s nothing wrong with black but I do like the two tones of blue from the jacket and pants with this jumper. The jumper is also super stylish on it’s own, it has a curved hem and a small zip up the back. Both jumpers skim over my tummy which is a bonus!

Collective Haul (Fashion, Beauty + More!)

I notice I go through stages with spending, I can go for a few months without buying anything and then I tend to buy in clusters. I do prefer to buy things together rather than going to the shops every week and I’m not actually spending more, I just get things at the same time. Last weekend I popped into town to look for a few bits (which I managed to find) and last Monday I placed my first Sephora order. I found it interesting that I ordered from the New Zealand site but the products came from Australia despite there being a physical store here in New Zealand. Not complaining though as I qualified for free shipping and the items arrived within four days of placing the order.

On with the haul!

1. Light Wash Denim Jacket

I purchased a borg style denim jacket off ASOS last year in one of my usual sizes and I’ve worn it a couple of times but it’s too oversized. The seam where the shoulder meets the arm is halfway between my shoulder and my elbow and it looks like I’m an American footballer wearing padding. I will try and sell the jacket as it’s still in good condition but over the past few months I have been looking for a replacement. I ended buying this light wash denim jacket from Pagani – it’s a store I often forget to visit but should make an effort too because the clothing is stylish, good quality and reasonably priced. I had a look online and saw a few different styles of jacket and went in store to try them on. I was torn between this and another jacket in a size up but when I held them up against each other there was barely any difference in size and this one fitted a tad nicer when I tried them on. The other jacket was more of a mid wash blue which I didn’t think flattered my hair as much. The jacket I ended up going with has a relaxed fit and I don’t have to roll the sleeves up too much; the proportions seem right for my body. This will go with anything and is a great staple to have.

2. G-String 2 Pack

Maybe this is TMI but I haven’t worn a g-string before. I bought these to wear underneath a bodysuit I purchased last year which I haven’t had the chance to wear yet because I didn’t have suitable underwear to wear with it. I went with classic black which will match the colour of the bodysuit and these also looked comfortable and not too skimpy.

3. Fiona Gibson books

I read a book from this author a short while ago and thoroughly enjoyed the story and her writing style. She has a romance, chick lit style and her books seem humerous, sweet and make for nice easy reads. Both books came to $12 which for brand new books is a steal!

4. Flower headband

I bought this for a Mexican themed quiz night I went to a few days ago. I was going for a bright, colourful scheme and paired this with glowy, bright makeup (let me know if you’d like me to recreate the look) and a black and white outfit to make the colours pop. Quiz night was a success, our team came 4th out of 26 teams and we were only six points behind the team that came 1st overall.

Onto the Sephora goodies!

5. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector – Royal Glow

I have heard Rachael (Helpless Whilst Drying) rave about this particular shade and I also have a mini of Opal so I know how beautiful BECCA’s highlighters are! I love all things British and the packaging of this product and the crown embossed into the powder are adorable nods to the royal family – the inspiration behind this highlighter. This shade is supposedly limited edition so I wanted to grab it while I had the chance.

6. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer

Since Fenty Beauty launched I have heard plenty of positivity surrounding the brand. I was tempted by the Gloss Bombs but I’m on a lipstick ban this year and didn’t want to break it. I’m halfway through my current primer and liked the sound of this one so I got it to try when my current one runs out. I purchased the 15ml size as opposed to the full 32ml size.

7. ZOEVA Rose Golden 230 Pencil Brush

Funny story behind this brush, I had planned to buy it when I ordered ZOEVA brushes from Beauty Bay at the end of April but pictures made this brush look bigger than it actually is so I purchased the 240 Luxe Petit Pencil Brush instead. When the 240 arrived it was absolutely tiny and whilst I have small eyes I was left wishing I had gone with the 230. I used the 240 on my lower lash line but because of it’s size I felt like I was poking my eyes and it wouldn’t be effective for the purpose I wanted it for; to apply shades in the outer V. I haven’t had a chance to use the 230 yet but the bristles are lovely and soft and the brush doesn’t look too big.

What was the last thing you treated yourself to?

January Favourites + Highlights

Month one of 2019 down already! I always see people complain January feels like the longest month but personally I don’t agree. I dislike January for a different reason and that’s the heat, as I’m sure you know by now I prefer cold weather.

This year I thought I would change my monthly favourites posts and include some highlights in them as well. This is the first post in the new format and I hope you like it!

Onto this month’s favourites:

1. F.R.I.E.N.D.S T-shirt – F.R.I.E.N.D.S is one of my favourite shows that I never get tired of re-watching. I spotted this t-shirt in a shop at the end of December and knew I had to have it. It’s thin material so it pays to wear another light layer underneath which is fine for summer. I wore this for the first time on New Years Eve tucked into some black pants with a bright pink lip colour and loved the casual feel of the outfit.

2. Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT – I haven’t mentioned this perfume on the blog until now. It was purchased towards the end of 2018 with the intent for it to become one of my everyday scents for work. Prior to purchasing this perfume I hadn’t smelt it before but I knew it was quite a popular fragrance. It does indeed smell beautiful and will be a perfect perfume for work, it’s floral, girly, light and lasts well.

3. xoBeauty Nam Jai Liquid Lipstick – Hands up who guessed this would make the cut?! This lip product is one of the best colours I have discovered in a long time and I will get so much wear out of it. Bright shades are why I love makeup; they make me feel more confident and youthful and portray a sense of fun.

4. The Body Shop Strawberry Smoothing Face Mist – With the warmer weather I have been enjoying applying a face mist when I do my makeup in the morning. The strawberry scent is one of my personal favourites from The Body Shop and this mist smells divine. I do find it does a good job at smoothing my makeup and keeping everything in place. My skin looks softer as a result.

5. Stabilo Boss Pastel Highlighters – I am still enjoying bullet journalling as much now as when I started and for 2019 I wanted to add more colour to various pages. This six pack of highlighters arrived in early January and I love all of them, I don’t think I can pick a favourite!

January Highlights

  • I got a new phone – the iPhone 6s Plus. I still have the space grey colour but I have a bigger screen now. I adapted to the new screen size quickly which I’m pleased about.
  • Nadine finally received her 1,000 followers giveaway prize! I sent it at the end of October 2018 and after constant worry it had gotten lost and reassurance from Nadine that the South African postal system is slow, it arrived. She did an unboxing and shared a picture on Instagram.
  • I got a haircut.
  • It was my birthday! I turned 24 on the 24th.

End of Year Haul (Beauty & Fashion)

To celebrate my new job I decided to treat myself. I definitely go through stages with buying and most of the time I’m good but it’s getting close to Christmas and that’s a good excuse to treat yourself, right?! For Christmas this year mum and I are considering not buying presents and everyone buys something nice for themselves with the money they’d spend on others. I didn’t want to miss out so I got in early!

MECCA:

1. Stila 3D Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Set

Rachael from Helpless Whilst Drying absolutely loves the Stila Magnificent Metals and this set is a great way to introduce myself to the product. The set features 3 x 2.25ml tubes in the shades Kitten Karma, Perlina and Golden Girl. These seem perfect for simple, easy eyeshadow looks. I don’t like to spend a lot of time on my eyes if I don’t have to.

2. Stila Nude Attitude Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Set

I’ve never tried Stila before so why not buy two three piece sets in the same order?! The Liquid Lipstick sets intrigued me and the one I chose – Nude Attitude Stay All Day – features one matte (Patina) and two shimmers (Illuminaire and Miele). It will be interesting to compare the formula of the matte shade to the two shimmers.

3. Clinique Merry Moisture Set

I have always wanted to try Clinque’s Moisture Surge moisturiser and this set offers a 30ml tube of the moisturiser and a mini lipgloss in Rosewater Pop. The gloss looks like a pretty colour and aims to be hydrating, weightless and not sticky.

The Body Shop:

4. Strawberry Fragrance Mist

I have previously tried and loved the Strawberry EDT from The Body Shop and figured this is mostly the same but there’s more product and it’s cheaper! I am nearly finished both the White Musk and Black Musk fragrance mists so purchased this is a backup. Strawberry is one of my favourite ranges from The Body Shop.

5. Black Musk Body Lotion

I prefer body lotions that come in bottles or squeeze tubes rather than ones with a pump as there it less wastage and it’s easier to get product out. I do like the spiciness of the Black Musk range and this will be a really nice lotion for autumn/winter. The Body Shop lotions aren’t the cheapest but they soak in quickly and the scents are long-lasting.

6. Metal Lip Liquids in Pink Nickel and Plum Titanium

I don’t like matte liquid lipsticks. Granted, I haven’t tried many but the ones I have I didn’t have a good experience with. I’ve been loving the look of metallic lips lately (not full on glitterball but shades with more of a subtle shine). I saw these online and swatched a few in store and they are so pretty! Pink Nickel is a soft pink-rose gold shade (not to be confused with the actual rose gold shade called Rose Gold) and Plum Titanium is a beautiful berry red. I have worn both shades and the formula is very comfortable and lightweight. The formula applies streak free and doesn’t dry down straight away so it gives you time to perfect your application.

Glassons:

7. Oversized Knit Jumper

My name is Chanelle and I’m addicted to jumpers! Jumpers make me feel cosy and if I could wear them year round I would. The colour of this jumper is called ‘Salt and Pepper’ and it is a lovely light grey. I don’t own any other grey jumpers. This jumper is also lightweight so it will be better for the warmer months and in summer I imagine this could be worn with just a bra or a singlet underneath.

8. Axel Bleach Wash Cropped Jeans

I have blue jeans, black jeans, grey jeans and white jeans but something about the light blue wash was drawing me in for summer. I haven’t worn my white jeans a lot because they are quite stark against my skin and I’m worried they will stain easily. I’m considering selling them. The white and black jeans I have are also these cropped jeans from Glassons and on me they are the perfect length! If you’re on the shorter side, try cropped jeans.

What the Glassons pieces look like on:

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve picked up over the past couple of weeks. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?

Redhead Rambles #38

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • Fridays seem to be becoming my ‘lazy’ day. I welcomed the rain and once again decided not to get dressed on one of my days off.
  • The sun was out on Saturday but it was freezing cold. I changed outfits three times until I was finally warm enough.
  • On Saturday night I noticed a sore throat and by Tuesday morning I was sick. I’ve spent most of this week not feeling the best. Once again I think it is a sinus infection, which I have suffered from more than usual this year. Basically this week has consisted of sinus rinses, paracetamol and probiotics.
  • I haven’t listened to music this week as I haven’t been able to sing or felt like it.
  • On Monday for dinner I had homemade pizza with some leftover roast chicken from Sunday night which was delicious!
  • On Tuesday evening I went along to a customer service course I enrolled in through work. I was going to pull out after seeing how personal the questions in the first module were but one of my colleagues encouraged me not to. I spent the weekend stressing about the course and because I wasn’t able to attend the first night a couple of weeks ago I felt out of the loop. Tuesday night’s class was fine and I even won a pair of Chanel earrings. I don’t think they are the real thing but they look pretty!
  • I didn’t sleep well at all on Tuesday night. I woke up with a dry throat shortly after 3am and didn’t properly get back to sleep. I had to get up for work just after 6am.
  • My blog giveaway closed on Wednesday. I will be double checking the entries this weekend and drawing the winner. The winner will be announced in Monday’s blog post!
  • As part of work we have a mobile library van which visits schools and community stops and allows people to get books out without coming into the library. On Thursday I went out on both the morning and afternoon runs and we stopped at a bakery for afternoon tea. I had a jam and cream donut and a sausage roll as a treat.
  • My online order from White Fox Boutique arrived and when I got home from work on Thursday I tried on the t-shirt dress and bodysuit. Both pieces are really nice and I posted pictures on Instagram if you want to see what they look like. I am a little bummed that after I ordered them the items were discounted even more but that’s what happens when you shop online sometimes.

Redhead Rambles #37

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • Friday was a busy day. Mum took her car to get serviced and a WoF (Warrant of Fitness). After that I was on a mission to find a hat for quiz night at the last minute. My team were The Three Musketeers and I improvised by adding an elastic feather headband to a hat. We had swords and stick on moustaches to complete the look.
  • Quiz night was fun (but long) and there was definitely an age bias on the questions. Our team didn’t come last which was the goal and we ended up with a goody basket to split between us. The dinner was lovely and dessert was even better, there was cheese and crackers and a caramel chocolate brownie.
  • My quiz night makeup was so pretty and I felt like a very glamorous musketeer!
  • I had a sleep in on Saturday and had an easy day. I prepped upcoming blog posts, read some of my book and made macaroni cheese for lunch.
  • On Sunday I loved my makeup yet again and went for a smoky eye with pops of pink on my cheeks and lips.
  • Work was quiet but that’s the only day it has been quiet this week. There’s only a couple of days left of school holidays which is a relief!
  • I woke up around 6am on Monday morning with the worst migraine I’ve had in a long time. I got up and took some ibuprofen and put herbal relief cream on my shoulders but my head was pounding and I ended up vomiting from the severity of the pain. I phoned in sick on Monday and went back to bed.
  • To cheer myself up on Monday afternoon I placed an order on White Fox Boutique. I purchased a bodysuit (I haven’t worn one before but the strap detailing on the one I ordered is really nice) and a t-shirt dress. Depending on how the t-shirt dress looks and the length, it may be nice to use as sleepwear for summer. At the time of this post the order is yet to arrive.
  • I wore one of my favourite lipsticks on Tuesday – Show Orchid by MAC – and it got such lovely comments!
  • On Wednesday I published another of the most personal posts I think I’ve ever written. I shared my thoughts and feelings towards dating, love and relationships. To read the post, CLICK HERE.
  • Wednesday also marked World Mental Health Day and I saw lots of positive, uplifting posts on Instagram and Twitter which is great. Mental health is just as important as physical health and I wish we could live in a world where everyone felt comfortable to talk about their feelings. I used to hide away a lot as a teenager and sometimes I revert back to that but I try not to bottle things up as much anymore. Being completely honest I have days I feel alone and don’t want to bother anyone and that’s why I try to be there for others because I don’t want them to feel that way either. I am always only a conversation/tweet/DM/message away if you EVER need someone ❤
  • I worked extra again on Thursday.
  • Thursday afternoon the weather turned grey which I quite liked. Sometimes I’m in the mood for miserable, dull weather.

What I’ve been listening to:

Sarah Close – Crazy Kind – Sarah is a British singer-songwriter and Crazy Kind is a catchy, upbeat pop tune!

Collective Clothing Haul (White Fox Boutique + Glassons)

Does anyone else feel like treating themselves to some new pieces of clothing when they lose weight? I haven’t lost a significant amount but I look slimmer and I’m feeling more confident. I was in need of a few basics and the two crop tops I thought would be really cute for summer with jeans, leggings or a skirt if I’m feeling brave enough to get my legs out! Let’s jump straight in!

Starting with what I got from White Fox Boutique:

1. “I’m So…” Slogan Crop White

I don’t really have any slogan tees and this one looks girly and stylish. White tees are a really good wardrobe staple and everywhere at the moment. I love the calligraphy style writing of the word obsessed on the front and it’s a pretty light pink colour. I ordered a couple of sizes bigger so it will be more of an oversized fit. The sleeves are a good length as well and I much prefer round neck tops to v neck.

2. Smoothie Crop White

This smoothie tee is adorable! The little drink detail reminds of a Starbucks frappucino and strawberries are one of my favourite fruits and one of my favourite flavours. This is basically identical to the obsessed crop top and again I ordered bigger for an oversized fit. These two tees are part of a collaboration with New Zealand beauty vlogger Shaaanxo. She designed them herself and I can’t get over how cute they are!

(I’m sorry about the dirty mirror, I really need to clean it!)

Moving onto Glassons:

3. Linen Blend Pleat Back Shirt – White

Like the crop tees from White Fox Boutique this top gives me summer vibes. The colour and linen material make it light and breezy and as with everything else in this haul will go with so many things. I’m a fan of the rolled up sleeves because full length is too long on me and it gives the shirt a more relaxed, casual feel.

4. Long basic legging

Leggings are so comfortable and one of my go to pairs of pants. I haven’t bought a new pair in a while. My mum has a pair of these ones from Glassons and says they’re really good because they’re thicker than pairs she’s tried from other brands. They are not too long at the ankle either which is a bonus when you’re short!

5. Cotton Blend Scoop Neck Tank – White

I have a basic white tank top but it’s very low cut so I have to be mindful when I wear it. I bought this one as a backup. Tank tops are great for layering under blouses when the weather starts changing or on their own under cardigans on cooler summer evenings.

6. Ribbed Tank Top – Navy

This tank top was on sale for $7! I really like navy as similar to black, white and grey it goes with most things and you can mix and match with lots of outfits. This tank top has a ribbed pattern giving it a point of difference from the white one.

Wearing the white shirt, white tank top and black leggings from Glassons. I apologise for the creases in the shirt as it had been folded and I tried it on straight away.

Which item is your favourite? Have you splurged on any new clothing lately?

Redhead Rambles #28

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • I had leftover pizza and garlic bread from Dominos last Friday for lunch and I don’t know what it is but leftovers always taste so good!
  • I placed an order on White Fox Boutique for two white crop tees. The tees are a collaboration with Kiwi beauty guru Shaaanxo and while everything looked nice I wanted these most. The order arrived on Thursday and the crop tees are everything I wanted them to be!
  • On Saturday I made myself and omelette for breakfast before placing another clothing order. This time it was Glassons who I have ordered from lots of times before. In this order I picked up basics like tank tops, a pair of leggings and a shirt. My Glassons order arrived on Monday and I am always impressed by their shipping. I will have a haul up next week sharing what I bought from Glassons and White Fox Boutique and what the items look like on.
  • Saturday afternoon was spent on the couch reading Still Me by Jojo Moyes.
  • On Sunday I tried some new makeup and was impressed with everything. MAC’s Soft and Gentle is amazing!
  • Claire Richards announced her solo album ‘My Wildest Dreams’ and I instantly pre-ordered a personalised copy. I also stayed up a bit later to listen to the premiere of her debut single on BBC Radio 2.
  • I had Subway for lunch on Monday; three pepper chicken.
  • Dannii Minogue answered my question during a Twitter Q&A.
  • The weather has been mostly wet and dull and the internet has been cutting in and out all week. I wouldn’t be surprised if the internet problem is weather related.
  • I shared a post all about my breakup and what happened that led to it. Writing it felt good and I feel like it will help me move on and I’m not carrying this secret around because my blogging friends now know what happened. All the comments have been kind and supportive so thank you! *CLICK HERE* to read about the break up.
  • I got some new page ideas for my bullet journal so I might try and implement those over the next couple of weeks. Looking at inspiration also made me want pens and stationery, in particular a set of pastel fineliners from Staedtler.
  • I picked up my new glasses on Thursday! I shared photos of both pairs over on my Instagram if you want to take a look!
  • Thursday afternoon was spent blogging, reading and catching up on a few bits and bobs at home.

What I’ve been listening to:

Claire Richards – On My Own – Claire is one of my top five favourite vocalists and as the lead singer of my favourite band Steps she has had a very successful career. For the first time after 20 years in the business she is going solo and releasing her own album away from the band. I’m expecting heartfelt, catchy lyrics with a powerhouse vocal and the first single doesn’t disappoint!

Shop With Me: Glassons

Over the past year or two Glassons has become one of my favourite places to shop! I purchase in store and online and their delivery service is great. Glassons have a quality mix of stylish and affordable pieces. All of the items in this post are tops, I tend to buy those the most and mix and match them with different pants. The first two blouses were bought in store and the two t-shirts and hoodie were ordered online.

1. Frill hem blouse – milk

I fell in love with this blouse on the hanger. 3/4 sleeves are what I personally like to wear and the sleeves are beautiful and flowy – I feel a bit like a fairy. I am short so the length of the blouse is perfect and it emphasises curves in all the right places without clinging. There is also a cut out detail on the back but it’s only small so nothing is on show. This blouse would be lovely to wear on a casual day out or in the evening if you’re going out.

2. Frill Blouse – Black

This blouse is similar to the first one but there are some differences. The sleeves on this are long and not as flowy and have cut out detailing with a button at the wrist. This is a peplum blouse so it’s slightly more fitted around the middle but like the first blouse doesn’t cling and shows off curves. This also has the same back cut out detail. This top could be worn casually too or would look nice for a job interview.

3. Slim Fit Crew Tee – Fairy Bread

T-shirts are an essential, they are nice to wear on their own in summer and can be layered up when it starts to cool down. I have a small criteria when it comes to t-shirts: I don’t like v necks and I don’t like the sleeves to be too short. The material of this tee is super soft and the colour is unlike anything else I own, it’s a pretty peachy-rose pink.

4. Crew Tee – White

This t-shirt also has a crew neck but the material is slightly different, it’s thicker and not as soft (not in a bad way). You can’t go wrong with a classic white tee, it goes with everything!

5. Waffle Crop Hoodie – Blue Me Away

I don’t know what it is about blue jumpers but they always sucker me in. I wanted a casual hoodie and liked the look of this one. The length is cropped but I find lots of cropped things are the correct length for me. The material is light with a waffle pattern and the hoodie sits nicely on the body. You can definitely layer up underneath or even wear a coat/jacket over top.
