Gratitude: July 2018

Two months of winter down and only one left to go! The weather hasn’t actually been that bad, there’s been sunny and rainy days. July has seen some changes, I bought a car and started learning to drive, I’m getting new glasses, and I feel like there has been a shift in my mood and personality. In some ways I am more guarded and I’m very cautious but then there is another part of me that shouldn’t feel ashamed for what happened and be okay with moving on. They say time is a healer and I hope that’s true!

Here’s what made me smile:

July 1: Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer is super catchy!

July 2: Hot chips and Big Mac sauce.

July 3: Cream bun for afternoon tea.

July 4: Phone call with my brother.

July 5: Getting the blog back on track, planned this month’s posts.

July 6: Yummy pie for lunch.

July 7: Went for a spin in a car my neighbours are selling. Decided to take the plunge and buy it to learn to drive in.

July 8: Browsed the Mecca Maxima site and there are so many things I’d like to try.

July 9: I became a car owner!

July 10: Good eyeshadows make morning makeup routines so much quicker.

July 11: My online order from The Body Shop arrived.

July 12: Fish and chips for dinner.

July 13: Had fun trying on Kylie Minogue glasses!

July 14: Love my mum, always helping me feel better.

July 15: Found a mini MAC Vanilla pigment for $10!

July 16: Pizza is SO GOOD!

July 17: Made my first Beauty Bay order.

July 18: Finished Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine.

July 19: Curled my hair and did nice makeup.

July 20: Drove in my car for the first time!

July 21: Back in my pyjamas at 2pm, rock n roll Saturday.

July 22: Spring rolls.

July 23: Put a hold on Still Me by Jojo Moyes at work – I’ll finally get to read it.

July 24: I chose new glasses!

July 25: Nice spot of afternoon tea at work; bread, crackers and bacon and egg pie.

July 26: Dungaree day.

July 27: Much needed sleep in.

July 28: Simple things make me happy.

July 29: Compliments from strangers are so kind.

July 30: Beauty Bay order arrived.

July 31: Free hot chocolate at work.

July Favourites 2018

July has been memorable, there have been changes and significant purchases this month and in some ways I feel like I’m moving forward. My mood and emotions are still up and down but parts of me feel more confident and I’m less willing to put up with shit to put it frankly. I’ve reached a point where I’ve got to think of myself and look after my needs.

Onto this month’s favourites:

1. Shaaanxo The Remix Palette – A couple of weeks ago I dedicated a whole blog post to this palette – CLICK HERE to read it. The palette contains 18 shades (nine on each side) and has a great mixture of mattes, shimmers, neutrals and pops of colour. All of the shades are beautiful, the pigmentation is good and the shades are a dream to blend and apply. In short, I love this palette! Since my review the palette has been restocked on

2. Trilogy Very Gentle Restoring Oil – I purchased this facial oil at the end of June and I’ve been loving it as part of my evening skincare routine. I apply this product last and my skin has been feeling softer than usual. This oil contains maqui berry, apricot, and sea buckthorn and is unscented so won’t affect people who are sensitive to smell. Trilogy describe this oil as ‘a delicate, fragrance free blend of pure plant oils that gently nourishes and protects sensitive skin against free radical damage while helping to visibly smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants for soft, smooth, comfortable skin.’

3. My car – I bought a car this month and I am excited to start driving! My neighbours were selling their silver Nissan March (a little hatchback) and my mum said it would be perfect for me to learn to drive in, the car is small and the visibility will be really good. The car is well equipped for it’s age, some of my favourite features include remote central locking, electric mirrors, driver and passenger airbags, CD player, tape player and radio and the key is shaped like the actual car. I have already had a couple of turns driving the car around a car park, albeit very slowly.

4. The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Body Lotion – I finished up my previous body lotion a couple of weeks ago and decided to opt for this lotion from The Body Shop next. Vanilla Chai was one of The Body Shop’s festive scents for Christmas 2016 and I purchased the lotion in early 2017 as part of a haul for my birthday. This scent has a spicy, warmth to it and it’s quite light so it will layer well with perfumes and other scents. The lotion also has a light texture and soaks into the skin quickly which I like as I apply body lotion to my arms before getting dressed.

Redhead Rambles #24

Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Redhead Rambles’. The series does what it says on the tin, it is a redhead (me) rambling about her week. I share what I’ve been up to each week, how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been listening to or watching. Occasionally I will my share favourite blog posts and links I’ve found useful or interesting.

  • In my last Redhead Rambles I talked about an unpleasant doctor’s visit. Last Friday I still wasn’t better so I got an appointment with a different doctor. I got prescribed antibiotics and prednisone to help with my breathing (I am an asthmatic). Health is so important and whatever it is, it can benefit to get a second opinion if it gives you peace of mind and helps you get well again.
  • I only started getting my tastebuds back last week as well so after my visit to the doctor I was naughty and had a pie for lunch! It was mince and cheese (my favourite) and it was SO GOOD!
  • At the weekend Mum and I went for a test drive in my neighbours little Nissan hatchback and I decided to buy the car. They have owned the car for 10 years and never had trouble so we know it’s reliable and it was a good price as well.
  • Sunday evening I spent browsing the Mecca Maxima website after hearing about it from a work colleague. There are lots of brands I’d love to try but the prices aren’t the most affordable…
  • On Monday I officially bought the car, handed over the money and changed the ownership into my name. I am excited and slightly nervous but it gives me something to focus on and look forward to achieving.
  • I made a small online order from The Body Shop. I don’t think I’ve purchased anything from The Body Shop so far this year. My order arrived on Wednesday and I got a Strawberry Smoothing Face Mist, an Early Harvest Raspberry body butter and something for my blog giveaway when I reach 1,000 followers.
  • Children are off school this week and next so work has been busy and the supermarket was pretty manic too. Mum and I do our weekly shop on a Tuesday after I finish work and we still managed to get everything we needed which was good.
  • My brother came down to stay on Thursday. He bought donuts from Krispy Kreme with him; Vanilla Slice and Apple Custard Crumble. We also had fish and chips for dinner on Thursday evening!

How was your week?
