February Favourites + Highlights 2020

I didn’t find January to be a slow month but February has zoomed by! I was on leave from work for the first week and absolutely loved it, I spent time listening to lots of music, completed a jigsaw puzzle, slept in, ate when I liked (I find this makes me less hungry as opposed to having structured times to eat and being in the ‘work routine’) and did some online shopping. I’ve been back at work for the past three weeks and honestly I am really tired. The heat is so draining and I cannot wait for the cooler, autumn weather.

Onto this month’s favourites:

1. Zoella Reach For the Stars hand cream – One of my closest blogging friends, Dannii, sent me this hand cream along with a few other goodies at the end of 2018. I started using it recently and I’m really enjoying the scent which is a mix of vanilla and peppermint. The hand cream was released as part of the Cosmos Collection but Zoe announced the end of Zoella Beauty so I wouldn’t imagine it’s readily available unless you try eBay or somewhere like that. The cream itself is lovely, it feels very moisturising and the tube contains 90ml of product which will last me ages! I love the iridescent shiny tube as well.

2. The Body Shop Warm Vanilla body butter – Warm Vanilla was one of the Christmas scents released by The Body Shop last year and I’m a sucker for vanilla so I wanted to try something from this range. When the body butter arrived I was a little overwhelmed at how sweet and sickly this smelled and wasn’t sure if I’d like it. After using this for a while the scent has grown on me a lot, when the body butter is applied to the skin the scent isn’t as intense and it’s more subtle. It does have a warmth to it and I thought this would be more suitable for winter but it’s summer in New Zealand and I’m a fan! The texture is soft and luxurious and spreads very easily over the body.

3. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Fair – If you’re curious to try this product I highly recommend you do! The coverage of this CC Cream is amazing and the texture is lighter than most regular foundations. I squeeze a little line out onto my hand and dab product over my face and that is enough for me. I find most days I don’t need to go in with additional product in the areas I have more redness. Product blends like a dream and feels good on the skin too. If you read my Testing Four New Foundations post you’ll know this came out on top and got a glowing review!

4. Natio Renew Radiance Night Cream – I have been using this night cream for about a month now and a combination of this product and the heat has meant I haven’t needed to apply my facial oil as my skin hasn’t been dry. A little goes a long way and the cream soaks in quickly and leaves my face feeling soft through the night. My face doesn’t feel greasy and my makeup has been applying nicely the following day. The key ingredients are pomegranate and vitamin C.

5. Louise – Heavy Love – I can’t remember how I first heard about Louise as she hasn’t had chart success in New Zealand but she has such a beautiful, pure tone to her voice with a slight R&B edge. Heavy Love is Louise’s first album in 20 years and is a great pop album! Louise co-wrote the majority of tracks and a lot of the lyrics talk about heartbreak which is to be expected after splitting from her ex-husband. Pop music with a catchy beat and heartfelt lyrics is right up my street. Standout Tracks: Stretch, Not the Same, Hurt, Straight To My Heart, Settle For Nothing and Wrong.

February Highlights:

  • I am ahead with my Goodreads goal for 2020 which is exciting!
  • I started my one palette, one month challenge where I aim to use one eyeshadow palette each month in an attempt to use all the palettes in my collection more. Each palette is paired with a different highlighter for the month as well.
  • At the beginning of February mum and I went out for a belated birthday lunch (our birthdays are three days apart). I had pancakes with bacon, banana, maple syrup and cream.

Aww sounds like you had an amazing week off at the start of the month 😊 I love the warm vanilla body butter, it smells incredible! Congrats on being ahead of your goodreads goal, I’m so behind on mine haha. Those pancakes sounded delicious too 😋

My time off was so nice, I had the last week of January off as well! It had been about 5 months since I had time off work so it was much needed 🙂 the scent of the body butter has really grown on me, it feels so soft on the skin! What’s your Goodreads goal? Also, what’s your name on there and I’ll add you ❤ the pancakes were yummy!

Oh wow you definitely deserved that time off! My Goodreads goal was to read 12 books this year, but so far I’ve only read one haha so I’m a month behind really. I think my username is Hollielg92 😊

That’s no far behind. My goal for the past couple of years was 50 but I didn’t quite get there so this year I’ve gone for 40 😊 I’ll add you when I’m next on there x

That sounds like a nice birthday lunch, I’ve never tried bacon on pancakes but the ones we have in the UK are probably different to yours. I didn’t realise that Louise had released new music, I used to love her when she was releasing music before.

I’ve been tempted to try the It Cosmetics CC cream but the price always puts me off. I might have to give it a go if I can find some in store to test, half the time foundations don’t seem to match my skin so I end up with ones I can’t use!

I hadn’t had bacon with pancakes before but it’s a good combination, soaks up some of the sweetness 😊 Louise is fab!

I have looked at the prize of the full-sized IT Cosmetics and been in two minds about it so when I saw this deluxe sample I knew it was a good way for me to try the product and not spend as much. Product blends really easily so the lightest shade should be ok unless you’re even paler than me, a little goes a long way too. Hope you get to try it!

I’m glad you’re loving the it cosmetics CC cream! I need to repurchase it this summer for the added SPF content.

Good job on your Goodreads goal!! I’m so behind on mine already, I need to read more. How many books did you decide to read for 2020?

That sucks that Zoella Beauty is no more. I never really got to see what they had at all.

I want to try those body butters so bad but I’m on a no buy. Which I admittedly broke recently for some makeup lol. But I’m all stocked up on lotions and what not.

I think the IT Cosmetics CC Cream will be my next big purchase. Might be great for summer.

And yay for being ahead on Goodreads! I think I’m about right where I should be. I’m going to try my hardest to finish another book before the weekend comes.

I’m doing my own little version of one palette one month. Right now I’m mainly going through my new ones for lookbooks and reviews 😁 let us know how that goes for you and hope you posts some looks either here or over on insta 🤗🤗

So cute you and your mom have your birthdays so close together! Sounds like you have an amazing month, I hope March is the same or better 😁

I’ve gone back to using the CC Cream and may attempt to empty it out this time and just make a re-purchase! It is so good! I have been falling in love over it again as it just gives me that flawless finish without looking like I have makeup on…my skin just looks really, really pretty. It’s insane.

You’re waiting for winter autumnal weather whilst I’m waiting for slightly warmer, more sunnier weather haha! Although I do like the fashion more in autumn – I just find it easier to dress and style my wardrobe. Glad you had a good month. X

I know what you mean about the CC Cream, it’s so flawless and skinlike – it always looks lovely on the skin! What shade do you use if I haven’t asked before?

I like warmer weather but once it starts getting over about 23 degrees it’s not a fun time. I’d rather layer up and be cold than overheat x

Ah yes! Anything from the mid-20s upwards gets a bit much for me too although strangely, I really enjoyed it last summer! I am actually really looking forward to summer again though as the longer days just give me lots of energy and inspiration.

Happy belated birthday to you & your mom! ♡ the night cream sounds lovely, pomengranate is so yummy! & that’s amazing you’re ahead on your Goodreads challenge. 🙂 I am so far behind on mine lol. I can’t wait to see your palette/highlighter challenge! What a fun idea!

Aww thank you, feels like my birthday was ages ago haha! The night cream is so lovely and hydrating, use it almost every night 😊 over the past month or so I’ve slowed down on reading a little bit I’m still ahead – yay! I don’t know if I’ll do a post about the palette/highlighter challenge. I’ve been sharing pictures of the combinations on Instagram but perhaps I’ll do a roundup here at the end of the year.

Ahhh, it really does seem like ages ago, doesn’t it?! & hey, at least you are still ahead on the reading challenge!! 🙂

I would be so excited to see that roundup! At the rate that time is moving, we will be at the end of the year in no time anyways. 😛
