Products I Want To Use Up

I prefer to use up what I have before purchasing replacements and new products. There’s something satisfying about minimalism and being without clutter which also prevents me from feeling overwhelmed and questioning what to use. It’s more effective when I can use a product and move on to the next one rather than having a ton I’m working my way through at the same time. Makeup is a slight exception as I don’t wear the same lipstick and eyeshadow everyday. I’m sure these products will make an appearance in an empties post in the near future.

1. The Body Shop Shea EDT

I do enjoy these 30ml bottles of EDT from The Body Shop for their size and their portability. If I need to carry fragrance in my handbag these fit perfectly. The Shea range from The Body Shop is my favourite but I don’t think Shea works as a perfume. I don’t dislike this product but it’s my least favourite of the eau de toilettes I have tried. The scent has grown on me the more I’ve used it and it shouldn’t take me long to finish up.

2. Rimmel Match Perfection Translucent Loose Powder

This powder is lovely but I never see anyone talking about it. Rimmel is an underrated brand in my opinion, the quality you get for the price point is very reasonable. I have had this powder for a few years now and I want to use it up while it’s still good. If you have dry skin like I do this is a good option as it’s not matte and can be applied with a very light hand. I don’t find the product messy despite having to tip it into the lid and as it’s translucent it doesn’t alter how foundation looks underneath.

3. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Fair

I know you’re probably thinking this is only a relatively new addition to my makeup collection and you’d be right. Realistically being a deluxe sample containing 12ml of product compared to a normal foundation containing 30ml I don’t think this will take me long to use if I’m consistent and don’t switch between foundations. I’m also interested to see how this works for me over a period of time so I can decide whether I’d purchase the full size once. I’m also excited about my makeup looking consistently good as when I tested this along with three other foundations I was very impressed!

Estimated amount of product left: Almost full

4. MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW10

This concealer is a little over two years old and I have made such a big dent in it. Every day the amount of pan gets bigger but the product seems to keep going. This works well in conjunction with the IT Cosmetics CC Cream so that will be a good match. This concealer is good but I still prefer Collection’s Lasting Perfection. Creamy concealers work better with my skin type.

5. Stila Glitter & Glow minis in Perlina and Kitten Karma

I purchased a set of three Stila Glitter & Glow minis as a Christmas present to myself in 2018 and in all honesty I was disappointed. I wrote this post in March 2019 about how I don’t think these are worth the hype and I’ve barely reached for these since. I threw Golden Girl in the bin as the colour/glitter is practically non-existent. I would like to finish Perlina and Kitten Karma as they are easier to work with and I’m hoping to incorporate them into an eyeshadow challenge I am setting for myself even as an inner corner highlight or topper or something simple like that.

Estimated amount of product left: Perlina = 2/3, Kitten Karma = 3/4

6. Urban Decay Primer Potion

This is cheating a little as it is so close to being finished and I am ready for it! This eye primer has been a game changer for me, I love it and it definitely makes my eye makeup last better but I’ve had a Milani eye primer I’ve been waiting to try for a few months in my drawer that I’m itching to crack into. I’d say there’s another week or two left with the Urban Decay primer at most.

Estimated amount of product left: Nearly empty

7. The Body Shop Mandarin Face Mist

This is my least favourite product of the bunch. The scent is a little sickly and the mist isn’t as good as the Strawberry one I’ve tried previously. I don’t feel this mist does anything for my skin and I find I have to do quite a few sprays to feel the product on my face. Compared to the strawberry mist this doesn’t smooth or set my makeup so I’ll probably use this under/on top of my moisturiser in the morning to give my skin a boost of moisture.

I am obsessed with that Urban Decay primer! It’s literally the only one I’ve ever used for years haha. Aw I’m sad to hear that you didn’t like the Stila glitter eyeshadows, I keep debating trying them out or not as they look so pretty but hear lots of people have issues with them.

Aww I love Kitten Karma😍 I like a lot of the products you mentioned. I get you about minimalism. I haven’t really bought makeup in ages but I feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount I have and skincare. It’s much less stress having a smaller collection, so I hope to finish some bits up soon x

Good luck finishing all of these! It’s so satisfying to completely finish off a makeup product, since they take so much longer to use than skincare.

I really love the kitten karma glitter & glow shadow but they’re sooo expensive!! I haven’t been able to justify repurchasing.

I have a couple of the Stila ones I am trying to finish up – I think I bought the same mini set as you (did it have a butterfly on the packaging?) and apart from Kitten Karma, the other two shades in that set are total duds in my opinion. I feel like they had the formula made for full sizes new it wasn’t good enough and put it into a mini set as a way of getting rid of it! Kitten Karma is probably my favourite shade from them, it’s not the most pigmented but I think it’s the most sparkly and I like it by itself or layered on top of a champagne or rose gold shadow,

Rimmel is an underrated brand – when I decided to switch to being CF, I did have a sudden “Oh no that means I can’t buy the stay matte powder” moment!

I think it did have a butterfly on the packaging. Kitten Karma is the most decent shade out of the set but Perlina is ok, I’ll use it up at least. I think the shimmer and glow formula that is more shimmery rather than glittery would perform better? Rimmel lipsticks are really nice and they make my holy grail mascara so I love them!

Have you found the switch to CF hard?

I am still using up what I have at the moment, so haven’t really had to go and research too much – but it’s dawning on me that some favourites (Garnier Micellar Water) etc I’m going to need to find replacements for.

I find the Shimmer ones quite difficult to apply and when you try to blend the edges it takes away the sheen – I’ve not used the few that I have very often as I just find it easier to use a shimmer shadow with a wet brush.

I’ve been using Kitten Karma a little since this post went up and I find it’s ok if I apply product from the brush to my finger tip and swipe it across the eye. It layers that way too.

Even though having empties means you have to spend money on new ones, I absolutely love finishing products I feel so satisfied and accomplished haha! I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way. I am using the body shops Shea shower gel at the moment and the scent is amazing, but its a shame the perfume isn’t as nice!xxx

Sometimes you’re ready to move on to new products you know?! I enjoy trying out new things but will also keep a product around if I really love it 😀 I loved the Shea shower cream when I tried it but had to return it as it contains SLS and made my legs itchy. I can’t/don’t use anything like that when I wash which is a shame as some products smell amazing but it’s not worth risking having a reaction x

I really would love to try that IT Cosmetics CC cream, the way you describe it sounds so lovely! I thought the Stila shadows would be so much better, I’m sorry to hear they were just not as great as they were made out to be. 😦

I find it so interesting how The Body Shop turns every single one of their fragrances into all of their individual products. Are EDTs the same as perfumes?

I know you’ll be able to empty these all. Best of luck! ♡
