Many people know me as the bold lipstick girl but there are days and occasions where a bold lip isn’t always appropriate. A job interview is a formal occasion and I still like to wear makeup but a simple, understated look. I opt for soft pinks and nothing too shimmery. It’s nice to pare it back sometimes.
Products listed in order of application:
1. Olay Complete UV Lotion Sensitive – I’ve been using this as my daytime moisturiser for a few months now and I’m enjoying it. There is no sunscreen smell and the moisturiser feels very light on the skin and soaks in easily.
2. Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer – I apply primer 5-10 minutes after moisturiser and this primer really helps to smooth out my skin and make foundation apply nicely over the top.
3. Rimmel Professional Brow Pencil in 002 Hazel – Been filling in my brows with this since 2016.
4. Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 100 Fair – Even though my skin leans towards the drier side I don’t always prefer dewy foundations. This one from Max Factor is a nice cross between dewy and matte and the coverage with one layer sits at medium, it can be built up if you like fuller coverage too and it builds like a dream. This is my favourite foundation.
5. Urban Decay Primer Potion – After trying this eye primer I am a total convert! Some eyeshadows perform similarly with or without it but I do see a difference for the most part. The eyeshadow palette I used for this look has super soft, buttery shades and this primer held them on the eyelids better.
6. MAC StudioFinish Concealer in NW10 – This concealer has good coverage and a good layering ability. The concealer is not drying on the skin despite not being a liquid cream formula.
7. The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01 Light Matte – A light dusting of this over my face helps add a healthy hint of colour and as I have said plenty of times in the past it is extremely difficult to overdo it with this bronzer.
8. Covergirl TruNaked Roses Palette – I don’t use this palette as much as I should but I don’t tend to wear a lot of pink on my eyes. I used three shades from the palette for a soft, blown out natural eye look.
9. Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara – I am using one of the tubes I purchased from Beauty Joint earlier in the year and now the mascara has been open a few weeks it’s starting to get to the point I really like; it makes the lashes look super black and adds a pretty flutter. The bigger size of this brush makes it easier to coat more lashes and because of this I don’t have to hold it as close to my bottom lashes.
10. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle – I know I mentioned in the intro I don’t wear anything too shimmery but I wanted my cheeks to have a nice glow so I tapped this highlighter onto my cheeks with my ring finger for a lighter, softer application.
11. MAC Syrup – This is the perfect lipstick for any occasion and one of my all time favourites!

This is a perfect job interview look. I agree that it’s good to tone down the bold lipstick for the interview, but you can pull it out again once the job is yours 🙂
I love UD primer potion! I just ran out

It’s funny you should say that, I’m not normally a fan of pink eyeshadows on me 😛 This palette is pretty though!

I agree with you – I normally go for an all matte eye makeup look and simple cheeks and lips in neutral colours. I haven’t been on a job interview myself in a while but I do interview people from time to time and you’d be shocked at what kind of makeup some of them wear! One girl’s eyebrows were like Instagram brow – so bold and frankly, distracting. Another girl had super long nails that were painted shimmery green. I work in a corporate environment in an office, and the jobs that they’re interviewing for aren’t junior positions. 😮

I think it’s an unwritten rule that most people go for an understated makeup look for an interview but I guess some people don’t get the memo
I can’t stand brows where they are all you can see, it’s so distracting and doesn’t look natural, I know bold/bushy brows are in but I personally like mine to look real. I usually paint my nails in a neutral shade or leave them unpainted 🙂

What a perfect look for an interview, I think I’d wear this exact one if I was going for one myself. 😉 I love that lippie color on you & the light pop of highlighter on your cheeks is so pretty!!

Thank you Hunida 😀 Syrup by MAC is such a lovely lipstick, one of my holy grail shades for sure! The MAC highlighter is so pretty too, especially for fairer skin tones, it doesn’t make you look like a glitterball and gives a subtle, lit from within glow 🙂

I must make an effort to use this palette more, I’m not normally a fan of pink eyeshadows but these shades are an exception! Thank you for your sweet comment 🙂

This is a lovely look – I tend to go for something more paired down too. Syrup is a great lip choice as it’s comfortable too, there’s nothing worse than a matte lipstick that feels uncomfortable when talking and it’s such a nice balmy one which will also wear away gracefully and not leave with obvious fading 🙂

Most of my lipsticks tend not to be a matte formula, I can’t get on with matte liquid lipsticks at all – I don’t get dry or chapped lips but I prefer a soft, comfortable formula 🙂 Syrup fades nice and evenly.

I love the look you came up with. I would keep things more natural in a job interview.

Thank you Dal 🙂 keeping things natural seems to be an unwritten rule that nearly everyone tends to follow.

What a lovely makeup look, Chanelle! Very pretty and natural, perf for an interview! 💖I love your eyeshadow look–the TruNaked Roses Palette sounds so nice! For a job interview, I’ll usually do a similar look, pink/neutral lipstick shades + soft eyeshadow look. I wear plum lipstick to work all the time though hehe!! 💓

Aww thank you lovely! The eyeshadow palette is one I always tell myself to use more, it’s very pretty 🙂 Plum lipstick might be seen as neutral depending on how bright/bold it is! I love bright colours on me and I’m not afraid to wear them 💄

Thank you lovely! Light pink is so pretty for the eyes and I don’t normally go for it but I really like how it turned out 🙂
