Review: MAC Syrup and Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Review: MAC Syrup and Rimmel Match Perfection FoundationHi there! How was your weekend?

To kick off this week I’ve got a review of the MAC lipstick and Rimmel Foundation I purchased last month. I’ve been using both of these products a great deal over the past few weeks and feel it’s time to share my thoughts with you.

MAC Syrup

Each MAC lipstick claims: “Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.” (Source: MAC)

I adore everything about the packaging from the bullet shaped casing to the simple black box it comes in with the name of the lipstick on top. The casing is light but doesn’t feel cheap. When you close the lid it clicks so you know it’s on safely and securely and won’t roll around your bag. I also like how the shade name and lipstick finish is listed on the bottom of the casing. If you have quite a few MAC lippies in your collection it makes it easy to find the shade you’re after.

+ Smell; a lovely light vanilla scent.

+ Texture. This lipstick feels incredibly smooth to apply and doesn’t drag over the lips at all. It’s a lustre finish so it’s glossier than a matte, but this means colour can be worn more sheer or built up.

+ Lasting power. Lustre lipsticks aren’t meant to be as long-lasting as other finishes but I can put this on before I go to work and come home with it still in place.

+ Great everyday lipstick. Syrup is such an easy colour to apply, and you could wear it with anything. It doesn’t matter if you’re going for a more natural look or for something bolder. Use Syrup to tone down your outfit and add a subtle hint of makeup.

– Price (ever so slightly). This is the most I’ve ever spent on a lipstick but it’s not too much of a con because the quality is so good. I’d be disappointed if I’d paid that much for a product that was hyped up just for the sake of its brand.

– How much I love this lipstick and want to use it. I’m afraid that I’ll use it so much it’ll be gone in no time!

Overall Verdict

Considering this is my first MAC lipstick (hopefully not my last) I am very impressed! There are no real cons to this product and it’s such a lovely colour that I think would suit a lot of people. MAC lipsticks are worth the money because of their quality. If you’re worried about the price, ask friends and family if they’d consider buying you one as a gift, or failing that, look around the internet for blog sales.

This is the first technically second liquid foundation I’ve tried and I’m so thankful it comes in a bottle with a pump otherwise I’d be paranoid I’d get the product everywhere. It comes in a clear glass bottle which is handy as it allows you to see how much product you’ve used and how much is left. I like how clear the information on the bottle is, it tells you the name of the product, what it does, what shade it is and you don’t need a magnifying glass to read the fine print. Packaging doesn’t make or break a product for me, but when the packaging is good it makes the product even better.

+ Perfect match for my skin tone. This foundation is called match perfection and I believe on me it is exactly that. I’m shocked I didn’t need the lightest shade in the range and I’m really pleased with how this looks, no orange tinge or different coloured face and neck going on.

+ I also believe the traceless coverage claim is true. This foundation blends really nicely and doesn’t leave visible lines on my face or jawline that haven’t been blended properly.

+ Texture. This liquid foundation is the perfect amount of runny, it’s not too runny that it slides right off my hand but it’s not too matte that it sets straight away. It doesn’t take long to dry but you are able to work with and blend out the product. This foundation gives a nice glow to my face and doesn’t feel heavy on my skin.

– This shade is hard to come across. I’ve seen other shades of this foundation in stores near me but I bought this one out of town. If I repurchase I may need to travel to get it.

Overall Verdict

I haven’t tried many foundations but out of the ones I have this is my favourite! I love using this everyday and how easy it is to wear and apply. Since I bought it I haven’t gone back to my non-liquid foundation. I would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking to try a new foundation as it comes in a variety of shades and is inexpensive.

Let me know if you’ve tried these products before and what you think of them or if you’d like to give them a go!

Great review Chanelle! I have the Rimmel Match Perfection and it’s quite a nice foundation actually. I also recently got MAC’s Syrup as a birthday present and I love it! It looks so lovely on you!! ❤ xo

Ooh I’ll have to check out Clinique, I’ve never really looked at their products before and I love cheap! If you do decide to take the plunge and buy a MAC my advice would be to go for an everyday shade so you will get plenty of use out of it instead of saving it for special occasions x
