April Lifestyle UpdateIn the southern hemisphere we’re halfway through Autumn and earlier in the week I did a wee bit of research (less than five minutes worth) and discovered that apparently Autumn is a time to celebrate balance and renewal. I’m not a very spiritual person but since the beginning of the month I have adopted a few new little rituals that I’ve been loving and enjoying so I thought I’d share them with you!

At the end of March I bought myself a scented candle. I haven’t owned any candles or burnt any before and I thought this would be a nice way to make my bedroom more homely and feel like a space I want to spend time in rather than just using it to sleep. I chose a vanilla scented candle which comes in a glass jar and features the word Joy on the front – that’s the emotion I’d like to evoke when burning the candle. The candle has approximately 40 hours burn time and I wanted a relatively neutral scent as well as something that wouldn’t be overpowering. Happy lighting!

30 Days of YogaYoga With Adriene – 30 Days of Yoga

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while now you may know that I do some form of exercise everyday and more often than not have a monthly challenge on the go. I really enjoy taking that time out for myself and it makes me feel good. This month I have taken on a yoga challenge and I am following Yoga With Adriene’s 30 Days of Yoga. I signed up for the challenge over at YogaWithAdrienne.com for free and everyday I receive an email with a link to the daily video as well as a message of encouragement and support. She also invites her participants to print out a 30 Days of Yoga calendar and write one word to describe their yoga practice each day.

Since starting the yoga I’ve noticed that the moves and positions aren’t as difficult as I’d imagined they’d be. Adriene is all about finding what feels good and offers alternative movements if you’re a beginner.

    These sound like wonderful enrichments to life! I particularly enjoyed reading about your commitment to physical activity. My husband and I are trying to move away from lives that are mostly sedentary. We live in a gorgeous area full of opportunities for physical activity and interaction with nature. Now we just need to get our butts in gear, LOL. I love your idea of monthly challenges. It seems like breaking up the time into monthly increments would help keep a person focused. Thanks for the food for thought. :o)
